Charity Buzz Reps EXCELLENT

Greetings Charity Buzz Reps; I would have rated FIVE Stars except for the 'hidden' buyers premium add on. That was explained by JoJo (excellent customer service rep) and was adjusted on my first time bid. I have looked at other items and expect to follow more. (Missed a few that closed.) I won a bid and got ready to plan and…

I won a bid and got ready to plan and book, only to be slammed with a dollar number I DID NOT EXPECT NOR PLAN FOR. I called their customer service and got a voice answering machine (who does that!?) and sent 2 emails waiting to understand what went down. There is almost a $2k difference between what was posted (and I bid for) to what I am actually paying, my credit card even flagged it for me. $2,000 is a LOT OF MONEY, this is not admin fee that you can "just pass along". This made me look up reviews ( I know a bit late) and now I do think they are a scam! Shame on this organization for calling themselves a "charity". So so disappointed.

Edit: CharityBuzz contacted me and explained how the premium fee works (20%), although to me it was not 100% transparent on their site, they have it listed in their terms and conditions. They waived the fee for me and I appreciate that. I am now happy with my winning. Also, I learned that they are in fact not a charity themselves. Rather use their platform to connect people directly to charities who have brought donated items/experiences up for auction.

Great fun but read all the guidelines and rules

I would tell people to make sure and read the conditions of sale before bidding. There is nothing unusual, but for a first-time buyer, I didn't know about the buyer's premium which could put your budget out of range. Overall Charitybuzz does a great job with keeping you informed of your bid and that monies do go to a good cause.

Buyer beware

I’d like to say I am excited to win my bid but the buyers premium was a totally unwanted surprise. I’ve read the reviews NOW and see it’s the same for a lot of folks. You don’t need to respond with the canned “customary for auction houses to improve the experience “. What you DO need to do is make it clear. If my bid is $5,000 you can clearly post the TOTAL charge before I hit confirm so I know what I’m paying. I hope others read these reviews before they bid. Please stop saying you’ll look into it. This is not a difficult change. The only reason you aren’t doing so is that you’ve likely decided that fewer people will bid when they know that you’re charging a 20% premium. Bad customer service.

Edit - Charitybuzz reached out to me and explained their charge and since I was a first time winner, they graciously refunded the charge I will know in the future and will add in the 20% but I hope to continue bidding (and winning) more future items to assist with charity and enjoy unique trips and items.
