A brilliant day very professionally run and most useful.

A warm welcome from Lynne and Jo! Continued excellent tuition from Colin Hoad who has the rare ability to be able to put a driver in touch with their car and set-up the essential two-way conversation between man and machine. There is no better place to do this than Millbrook and certainly no better people in my 30 years of experience in performance driving. If you or your staff drive performance cars, you need to visit CAT Driver training and you will be safer, faster and happier for it!

Awesome day of training. The day was structured around my abilities and ambitions, and I came away with increased confidence in my vehicle and skills. Colin is a great instructor, both knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Steve was an amazing instructor, was able to put me at ease immediately and was infinitely patient at the same time. His detailed explanations of the theory behind the practice were really informative, and made the whole day much more enjoyable. The location at millbrook is brilliant, a really interesting place to see and drive. I will definitely be back for the next courses in the series!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Millbrook with Steve at CAT Driver Training. I could not have asked for a better instructor. Hugely knowledgeable about car handling dynamics, excellent at communicating in a way that made sense and could be learnt and applied whilst driving, and an all round lovely guy. The testing facility itself is brilliant and allows you to test what you are learning in a safe, controlled environment. It's also just a fascinating place to be, seeing new test car prototypes driving around. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve their driving skills.

Fantastic experience to understand just what me and my car are capable of. My instructor was very clear in the tuition given and explaining the theory.
Millbrook is a great location to try new things in a safe and controlled environment where techniques can be tried many times to get better and help understanding.

What a fabulous day. Booked through Porsche Club GB, and the whole process was a doddle. Jo and Lynne are friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. All paperwork, payment and joining instructions were clear, timely and the secure process is very slick.

On the day, getting onto site is easy. And what a site!! Interesting stuff everywhere, a lovely place and all the facilities you could wish for to mess around in cars. It was all great, but the highlight for me were the Alpine Loops (which you have to do each time you transit back to CAT’s base, not really a hardship!).

Which brings us onto Colin. A fabulous instructor, his depth of experience is amazing but what really sold it to me was his talent with a varied audience. He had 3 of us - ranging from me, a beginner in my 21 yr old modern classic to an experienced competitor with a specialist sports car worth 10 times as much. His ability to clue into each of our needs, skills and learning styles was impressive. To watch him seamlessly switch back and forth between all 3 of us during the day was REALLY impressive. And just a lovely bloke/good company to boot - I’ll say the same for Jo and Lynne back at the office. What a nice bunch of people. Having spent a day with them, you’ll come back better at driving, with a better understanding of the vehicle you own and how to exploit it, and you’ll have had a lot of fun with a great bunch. I left in very high spirits, with a smile on my face. Highly recommended, thank you all!

Our instructor for the day was Colin who provided top notch coaching and understanding from the start.
A nice lunch was provided and everything was carried out in a structured way and easy to understand but most of all it was enjoyable and I left the day feeling more confident and connected to the car. I hadn't realised what we were capable of !

The UTAC Millbrook proving ground is a truly extraordinary place—a constant buzz of world-class machinery being pushed to the limit. So to spend a full one-to-one day there on the Road Advanced Performance course, surrounded by serious kit and under the expert eye of the absolute legend that is Colin, was nothing short of unforgettable.

The day was brilliantly structured and tailored to me. Colin quickly assessed my skill level and then built on it with a smooth, progressive programme that developed my abilities step by step. His tuition was spot on—clear, insightful, and always with the “why” as well as the “how.” That deeper understanding unlocked mind-blowing techniques I’d never imagined using, like toe-curling to manage understeer!

By the time we hit the handling circuit and alpine loops, everything I’d learned seemed to click into place. The skills I’ve gained will change how I drive—whether it’s everyday motoring, a spirited Sunday blast, or the next track day.

Colin an excellent instructor and thoroughly enjoyable man to spend the day with talking all things driving and car related. Highly recommended.

I recently attended a Performance Driving Day (Porsche) with CAT Driver Training at UTAC, Millbrook in Bedfordshire.

It was an absolutely exhilarating and informative experience! From start to finish, the day was packed with invaluable learning opportunities and more of an understanding regarding the engineering of the 911 (which in turn helps us keep safe whether on track or road). The instructors Steve and Colin are top-notch—knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about driving. They broke down complex techniques like cornering, braking, and throttle control in a way that was easy to grasp, no matter your skill level.

The one-on-one feedback was invaluable, helping me understand the limits of my car. The different tracks were fantastic, offering a perfect mix of challenging turns and straights to push the cars (and Ourselves!). Whether you’re a car enthusiast or just looking to sharpen your skills, there is something for everyone. The organisation was seamless, with a great balance of track time, classroom sessions, and breaks. The staff, not forgetting Jo and Lynne made safety a priority while keeping the day fun and engaging.

CAT Driver Training is a must for all level of drivers. I’m already thinking about my next session! Five stars!
