BuyMaterials.com is the UK's building materials marketplace. We connect tradespeople, self-builders and DIY customers with a network of independent local merchants, saving them time and money on every project. List what you need, receive competitive quotes from merchants, and order in one click. The platform was built to solve a frustration familiar to anyone who has ever managed a construction project: the time lost hunting down materials, ringing round suppliers, and managing multiple accounts and invoices. BuyMaterials replaces that process with a single, simple workflow. Customers build a list of what they need, set a delivery date, and submit it to the network. Local merchants then compete for the business by submitting their best prices through the platform. The customer reviews the offers and places their order in one click. What used to take hours of phone calls and site visits now takes minutes. The platform serves three main audiences. Trade and professional customers, including builders, contractors and specialist tradespeople, benefit most from the time savings and the ability to manage multiple projects and materials lists in one place. Self-builders get access to competitive merchant pricing that has historically been difficult to secure without an established trade relationship. DIY and home customers can search thousands of products across categories including building materials, timber and sheet materials, plumbing and heating, electrical, fixings, tools and more. A key differentiator is the Universal Trade Account. Rather than applying for credit with each merchant individually, trade customers register once and gain access to 30-day credit terms across every merchant in the network. This removes one of the traditional barriers to switching suppliers and makes it practical to buy from whichever merchant offers the best price, rather than whichever one already has a credit file open. Trade customers are also assigned a dedicated account manager, someone with real building industry knowledge who can help source products, advise on quotes, and negotiate directly with merchants on the customer's behalf. For merchants, BuyMaterials provides technology and marketing reach that levels the playing field against the large national chains. Independent builders' merchants can receive and respond to enquiries at a scale that would otherwise require significant internal resource, and gain access to customers outside their immediate catchment area.

The company removing my negative…
The company removing my negative reviews. I left a negative review because they do their job very poorly. My most recent project was also affected by this issue.
I wrote an honest review based on my actual experience, explaining how their poor service affected my work. However, the company reported my review, and the platform removed it for allegedly violating its guidelines. I did not write anything offensive or inappropriate. I simply told the truth about my experience.
Nobody has explained exactly which rules my review supposedly violated or why it was removed. I believe I have the right to share my honest experience, including negative feedback, especially when their poor service has caused delays to my projects.

Hi Vadim
Thank you for your message. I’m sorry your project has been delayed, and I understand why that’s frustrating.
We flagged your earlier review to Trustpilot because we believed it didn’t reflect a purchase. We don’t have a record of an order from you recently. The decision to remove it was Trustpilot’s, and you’re welcome to ask them for their reasons.
BuyMaterials is a marketplace. When you request a quote, it goes to independent suppliers, who decide whether they can supply an item and how quickly to respond. The materials in your request were very specialist and difficult to source, so suppliers weren’t able to quote. That isn’t something we control.
If we can help with a standard materials request in future, we’d be glad to.
Kind regards,
Customer Team

Not as many quotes as l would have liked but still a lot cheaper than DIY stores.

Very bad service Your service was terrible. Initially, I was told the 15th, so I waited all day, but then I was told it would arrive on the morning of the 16th. It didn't actually arrive until the evening of the 16th. The service is awful, the deal is useless—it's all just absolute bullshit.

Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry your delivery didn't go as planned.
To clarify our role: BuyMaterials is a marketplace, not a builders' merchant. Your order was quoted, fulfilled and delivered by an independent merchant partner, who arranges delivery directly. Checkout was completed late on the 14th, after the point at which the merchant could accommodate next-day delivery. The merchant then scheduled delivery for the morning of the 16th, but a fault with their delivery vehicle caused a delay and the materials arrived later that day.
We understand how disruptive this was when you had planned labour around the delivery. Our Customer Success team looked into what happened with the merchant, has been in touch with you directly, and has offered a goodwill gesture. We would also be glad to ensure this merchant does not quote on your future requests.
Please contact support@buymaterials.com and we will be happy to continue the conversation.
