Antiquated Processing Costs me Money

Everything seemed fine with Bellco when we got the car loan. 6 months in I paid off the loan of $28K. Called and got the pay off and sent the check. The check took over 16 days to process. I had not heard from Bellco for over a month, so I called, since I had not received anything from them stating the pay off. I was told that I had a balance of $48.77, even though I got the pay off from them (a 10 day pay off) and sent the check that day. Representative said that he was sorry but it takes longer at Bellco to process checks, longer than other banks because they are a bit behind the times. There was no ability to change the situation. So I said, fine--I will pay the amount, but I will let everyone know how Bellco operates. Not impressed, go somewhere else.

Merry Christmas

I woke up this morning to find out that my car had been repossessed. I was under the impression that I had automatic payments being taken out of my bank account. This is my bad. No question my bad. I was 67 days late paying. They were sending notices to an incorrect address. They admitted they have the correct mailing address on file even though they were sending to my street address (in a town that has no mail delivery service). The fact that they were sending notices to the wrong address changes nothing for them. I owe a little over 1000 to bring my account current. The repossession fee is $1098. I asked and begged if this could be reduced. Absolutely not. I asked for a breakdown since the fee is so outrageous. This is what the rep told me: 450 repossession fee, 498 flatbed fee, 150 "other fee". Other fee? Yes that's how they broke it down. A joke. After I paid this outrageous fee (with no justification even for the $150 "other fee"), the manager DID NOT HAVE MY CAR RELEASED UNTIL THE POUND CLOSED. Tomorrow they are open 10-5. I work 7-5 in Breckenridge. Can I miss work after paying this out of control fee? You might notice that today is December 23rd. The place is closed on Christmas and is charging me 130/day.
If I tell you that each of the 4 Bellco employees I spoke with were horrible to me. Just mean and terrible people. Each ruder than the last. I have no words. If you have a choice do not bank here.

I've had nothing but trouble since I opened an account with Bellco

I've had nothing but trouble since I opened an account with Bellco Credit Union recently. The agent was new, but tried to be helpful but the Bellco systems were overwhelming. I had to rewrite my vitals on numerous pages taking a lot of time. You would have thought that you were still in the age of carbon pager not computers.

Since opening my account I've been prevented from reaching it online due to constant problems trying to login to my account. I've dealt with three IT people who although very friendly haven't been able to figure out why once I've fixed the login problem it prevents me from being able to login again.

I'm still nervous about my account as I received 2 identical letters from Bellco with the heading of Bellco Student Banking showing that I have a zero account balance. I'm 78 and haven't had a student loan for decades and never with Bellco.

Not being able to login & see what they list for my account balance combined with these letters is keeping me on edge.

I hope to be able to retrieve my money from Bellco & transfer it it to a way more efficient company. Rick

I wanted to open a Boost Checking…

I wanted to open a Boost Checking account to take advantage of the nice APY. However, an hour or so later I discovered the unreasonable requirements to get that APY, so I immediately requested the transfer of funds to be stopped as well as unblinking Bellco from my primary bank.
I sent multiple emails to Bellco requesting the transfer to be stopped and all accounts closed.
Nope. FIVE days later my funds were in that Boost Checking account!
I emailed them again about the screw up. "You need to visit a branch to close your accounts".
Their website wouldn't let me set up fund transfers to get my money back to my bank.
I feel they filibustered me to continue with the transfer regardless of my request to have it stopped.
What a clusterf**k.
STAY AWAY!

I have to agree with all of the other…

I have to agree with all of the other negative experiences here, customer support is worthless. I paid my car loan on time for 7 years. During the pandemic, they allowed me to push a couple of payments which I was super grateful for but I didn't understand that they were not extending my loan to cover those payments. I knew that my car was almost paid off and was getting SO EXCITED! Finally! It would be paid off since I haven't been able to afford the repairs on it for the last 4 years. I logged in to my account to see if I had a month or two to go, only to find my account in default, even though they took my payments. WHAT? How could I be in default when they are taking my payment every month? After at least 15 conversations, I got NOWHERE. They said the contract ended and the balance was due in full. That was three payments in one month!! I live on disability!! They would not extend the contract, they would not give me a loan for the two months, they would not take a credit card so rather than lose my credit I gave up my grocery money. How ridiculous and heartless can they be? STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!

bellco reports late payments on your…

bellco reports late payments on your credit 15 days after being late which is very unfair to consumers, they have reported late payments even though we pay within the month, things happen life happens & we forget but to report within a 30 day period is not good practice, if you care about your credit do not use this company, they do not care about any negative reports they make without giving you opportinyto fix

They made me look like a clown

Man, I hate to pile on here, but I have never had such a difficult transaction with a simple wire transfer. I have been trying to wire money since last week. All the account information is correct. Bellco says they called me to verify my information, and I looked at my phone, and there were no calls. I called them, griped a bit and they told me they would send me a Docunsign to complete the transaction. They did and I filled it out. Got verification from Docusign. Then got an email that the transaction had been canceled. I called Bellco, and they told me that the transaction had not been canceled.

How do you run a business like this, much less a bank?

They are making look like a clown to my client.

As bad as Wells Fargo

If there were an option to give negative stars, I would happily do so.
After a decade of membership, with 10's of thousands in assets, and multiple accounts in positive standing, this institution decided to force-close my accounts over a clerical error. Despite my history with them, they insisted on being unhelpful in resolving the error up to and including the moment I was finally able to free myself from being a part of this ridiculously careless corporation.
After several hours of getting nowhere with multiple transfers between customer service, resolutions managers, and every department in-between, I had enough. It was up to me to find a solution to the issue, it was up to me to figure out where the discrepancies were in my accounts, and it was up to me to figure out how to resolve the issue.
Even after clarifying the issue, and making right the assets that were charged without my authorization, I was repeatedly met with the company's unwillingness to be helpful or take even a modicum of responsibility, aside from excessive, empty-backhanded apologies that only served to insult my intellect and confirm their unwillingness to be helpful. I won't get into the level of disrespect I experienced on a multitude of levels, but the best part of this scenario was knowing the final call with them was the last I will ever have to make to this company.
Be aware that if you bank with this institution and have an issue, you will have a fight on your hands just to get to the source of issue at hand when it arises.
If you have the tenacity to make it through the initial 20 minutes of fighting their automated system, you will have the pleasure of speaking to someone who will fail to offer any solutions or recognize that your issue may be unique or require a little critical thinking. Forget about them finding a reasonable solution.
In my case, I had the delightful experience of being gaslighted about why a loan account I hadn't used in years was charged without authorization at the very moment I was notified that I was being threatened with collections. Before having the opportunity to correct the error, Bellco had taken the liberty of consolidating my liquid assets (more than 10x's the amount of the error) into my membership account, and force-closed each account in the process.
As mentioned above, the loan account was the last of what amounted to PAGES of accounts with Bellco. Despite also not having any use for the better half of a decade, and having had to resolve a similar charge YEARS BEFORE to safeguard my accounts from this very issue, I was not helped further.
This resulted in a merry-go-round of incompetence and client-blaming over many hours as I was suddenly burdened with re-establishing my personal finances from 1700 miles away, and left reeling from the fact that Bellco had not only upended my personal financial structures, but had not bothered to resolve the issue post-matter, and seemed perfectly content with failing to make the minimal effort to right a wrong.
I was repeatedly "thanked," however, for "being a valued member." A repelling reminder that I was anything but that.
I'm not sure what version of English or alternate reality exists where these things align to be a "valued" anything, but they will happily regurgitate this phrase while being completely unwilling to help a member, but then I am just one person.
Needless to say, I took my assets exceeding 10X's the financial amount of the discrepancy and went elsewhere post haste. I immediately made right any business accounts and moved those also, which alone exceeded 100x's the worth of the oversight.
I wouldn't recommend Bellco to my worst enemy, let alone the standard American that has a working income or an operational business. I don't want to imagine where I'd be if this had occurred on my business accounts.
I won't say you're better off at Wells Fargo because that is the single worst institution on the planet, however, I will say that having a membership with Bellco is just as valuable.
Do yourself a favor and go to a credit union that truly values their customers and the assets that those clientele represent, because you will not find that with Bellco.
Thanks Bellco, for helping me see the error of my ways in personal asset management before showing me the same with my business accounts, for that I am grateful. (Insert middle finger here.)

They will destroy your credit score

Paid our Heloc down to zero; every payment was on time. Every statement after that showed $0 ending balance. However they reported us 30 days late and delinquent as they claimed we had a $7.92 balance. Never mind that our statements show $0 balance. Our credit rating dropped 85 points, from “excellent” to “good.” Bellco verbally told us we should have known we owed that money even though it is nowhere on any paperwork or statements. They refuse to fix this. Stay away from this credit union. Zero stars is not an option.

Would recommend as a local CU

I've now had two favorable interactions with Bellco Credit Union.

First, in branch to set up a membership and open a CD (they have very competitive rates!). The lady who helped me on that occasion was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. Everything went exactly how she indicated it would.

I also recently bought a new car and my car dealership said they typically worked with local credit unions so I requested Bellco since I was already a member. That was also a satisfactory experience.

The only improvement is that I find their online banking system to be not as user friendly as other banking platforms. Also they have maximum payment limits (amount and quantity per month) for car loans which I wasn't aware of until I bumped into them trying to quickly payoff my loan.
