Terriable communication
I most say my recent dealings with aster housing and there contractors is just totally shocking.
There is no communication between aster and the contractors even worse they ignore there tenants.
And just show up with up no notice . And wont you just put up with it .no notice or anything. i am very concerned by there actions and lack of actions it is deeply troubleing. And will be making a offical in depth compliant. Even disabilities are ignored.

Very bad tenant care
I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with as it has been extremely disappointing from the very beginning of my tenancy.
I was originally offered my property in November 2024, however my move in date was repeatedly delayed over several months. I had already packed and made arrangements to move, only to be left in limbo. I eventually moved in at the beginning of March, and it later became clear that the delay was due to Aster losing a key to one of the main entrance doors. When I finally gained access, the condition of the property was unacceptable, including broken glass and a door having been removed entirely to gain entry. In addition, none of the internal doors appear to be fire doors neither is the outer door, the building itself has no fire doors, I have zero fire doors on the property I rent which raises serious safety concerns.
Since moving in, the issues have been ongoing. I have had to remain at home on multiple occasions for inspections relating to a leak affecting another property, despite repeatedly being told it is not my responsibility. Appointments have been missed without notice, and new dates arranged without consideration of my availability. My intercom system does not function correctly and the trade button does not work, meaning I have no reliable way of knowing if anyone is trying to contact me at the door. This is particularly difficult as I live six flights up with no lift, and this has still not been properly resolved despite being reported.
It is difficult to understand how effort has been made to force entry into sheds and install new locks, securing items that were clearly in use, yet essential issues such as a non functioning intercom remain unresolved.
Most recently, my belongings, including my children’s bikes, have been locked inside a shed after my padlock was removed and replaced with a new lock. There was no notice, no communication, and no access provided. I have made several calls daily and sent multiple emails, and have also shared video evidence showing similar locks fitted across multiple sheds, strongly suggesting organised works were carried out. Despite this, I have been told there is no record of the work and there has been a lack of clarity and accountability around what has happened. I am still without access to my own belongings.
I have also kept video footage and a full paper trail of my communications to support my position, and it is clear that the ongoing lack of communication will only strengthen my position should this need to be taken further.
The lack of communication, accountability, and basic organisation has been extremely frustrating. Promised follow ups have not been sent, and I am constantly having to chase for updates.
If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will have no option but to escalate my complaint to the Housing Ombudsman Service.
Overall, my experience with Aster has been poor from start to finish, and I would strongly urge improvements in communication, organisation, and respect for tenants.

Asked what reason do you have to visit, no other neighbours are harrassed so much and all I get is "because we can"! NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
If I die prematurely please take note of my name.
Harrassment, bullying and descrimination is their habits.
I will not fill out an online form or phone because no doubt the offenders will contact me.
I am taking legal advice and I may possibly contact a councillor or MP.

4 times you've been told that my mother…
4 times you've been told that my mother has passed away, however, you keep sending my father letters addressed to my mother and father. You were told the second time how much it was upsetting my father and still haven't stopped. Obviously don't care about people's feelings. Whoever deals with that side of things should be ashamed!

MONEY YOU PAY BWFORE YOU MOVE INTO A PROPERTY IS NOT REFUNDED TO YOU WHEN ON SIGNING PAPERS THEY SAY IT WILL, VERY UNHELPFUL ASSOCIATION, 2OULD NEVER RENT FROM AGAIN WITH THE PROBLEMS YOU EXPERIENCE WITH THEM ONCE TAKEN A PLACE WITH THEM VERY HARD TO MOVE OUT OF OR EXCHANGE

Helpful, friendly and pleasant
Although it sometimes takes a while to sometimes actually set up an appointment, once you've done so, the people they employ are always friendly and helpful. And I also learned that contrary to what I had heard before, any profits this housing group does is put back into building more homes

Grace House NW8 a new building 176…
Grace House NW8 a new building 176 flats built by Regal developers opened September 2022 .
The basement garage has had repeated regular episodes of disrepair with faulty garage doors left insecure . Contractors fail to rectify these doors leaving open access to public . There are repeated ongoing water leaks flooding the garage floor areas . Private tenants renting the expensive flats penthouses sharing this building with the affordable living tenants with huge escalating costs re heating each flat . Each flat has its own heating that is run off a communal air source heat pump system . Aster Grouo charge tenants for heating a flat via a fulfilment company who charge a daily service charge plus KWH charges are through the roof . I lived there for 3 years and the monthly average heating bill were £150-200 for heating a small one bed flat .
My expenditure for 3 years of heating cost me £1600 for 8 months of the year
When we first moved in I received a heating bill for 2 weeks £226 !
The management were charging out at a business rate for their heating account
Many living there elderly sat in coats in the communal lounge as their flats were far too expensive to heat . Many like myself used electric heaters as it was cheaper to heat with electric .
My 3 years of living in that new building cost me as a disabled tenant £1760 x 3 years £5.280 just for heating !
That was excluding electric bills
The tariffs did reduce but nowhere to match a tarrif one would apply via a main stream gas supplier .
The building was built with NO heating on the top floor glass walled enclosed area with a few chairs tables small kitchenette toilet .
We were told to sit in our coats during the winter on the 13 th floor !
Can you imagine living in a new building overlooking Regents Park with a specific area enclosed to be used as a place to relax ? No heating at all
No kettle to make tea
Why provide an area to sit in with no heating no portable heater and tenants expected to buy in their own coffee tea milk .
The communal lounge has had beg bugs repeatedly as well as many flats .
. My former flat was infested I lost my furniture and did not receive a penny from Aster Group as compensation .
I moved out September 2025 to an equivalent of assisted living in Hertfordshire .
Heating included in the rent
Tea coffee hot urns 24 hrs a day
Heating on 24 hrs a day
1 member of Staff sleep in always overnight
Staff care about you and always 3 members of staff in office to 68 flats
Grace house has an office where staff are hidden behind closed doors
They are not employed or trained to interact with tenants in an appropriate way . The staff are not mature people to handle such a building of such magnitude
It’s all about cutting costs running a building with many vulnerable living there who deserve mature staff on site to be listened to
Aster Grouo cannot rent the private flats £560-860 per week so they are trying to sell them via Knight Frank Rutley
The building deserves a far more heavier financial budget to bring in a mature team of staff who are trained to run the building and communicate with vulnerable tenants in a manner that is caring .
Quite the opposite
There is one caretaker to attend to 176 flats and just 2 cleaners !
I am now living under a housing association that specialises in independent living with a team of mature staff on site that engage with tenants and bend over backwards to make you feel good about yourself.
Living at Grace House was originally managed by Alex Asrate Denyer who was a man with a plan who knew how to run a building of such magnitude . He left the organisation like many others .
Aster Group need to seriously sit up listen to this as many others living there who I am still in contact with are very unhappy .
They are not happy by the way Aster group have changed staffing
Not happy by an onsite office that is used as a hub for Aster Group meetings
Aster Group merged with Central & Cecil housing trust you swallowed up their portfolio of buildings like Ada Court Maida Vale .
I recall having to meet Alex Asrate Denyer when he was transferred to Ada Court and was shocked at the reports coming from tenants about very high infestation of bed bugs .
Carers working via agencies enter that building and transfer bed bugs into Grace House .
You have failed to set up any quarantine system re Ada Court and Grace House hence that’s why tenants with infested flats still float around the communal areas of the buildings transferring to communal lounge areas .
You simply offered me a nightmare of a tenancy with inflated heating costs and bed bugs that Infested that building 2023 .
My flat 24 was infested the flat Nextdoor 23 it spreads to flat 9 below 23
The second floor was infested .
Then I had cockroaches and flat 18
The building is infested by poor hygiene of the tenants you placed into this building that were not hygiene inspected when moved in

Aster had not paid their OVO electric…
Aster had not paid their OVO electric bill repairing a flat I was moved out of years ago over massflooding. I got rehoused after being decanted fully due to mass main pipe leak. The bill is estimate £5,500. They used 3 years approx industrial machines 24/7. I closed my account when moved. New electric company took over meter in 24. I was in a decant home paying electric elsewhere. OVO chasing me with a CCJ. I am depressed as Aster have not paid their bill. Been through hell. In tears and depressed with litigation now! Aster have not paid their bill OVO emailed me saying landlord opened it in my name! I did not know. Aster breached GDPR this is serious OVO Statement of facts! Complaint needs resolving with Aster. I am depressed over the hell I have been through! In tears!! Court litigation stage now!! HELP! You need to pay the bill then say you will!!!! Gone on for years!

I moved into an aster owned bungalow…
I moved into an aster owned bungalow two years ago. The experience I have had with Aster housing association has been truly horrendous. I have been treated so badly by asters independent living team words cannot express my hate towards them particularly Andrew Helms. He has broke every rule in the rule book yet he still has his job . After reading all of the other negative reviews regarding Aster one has to conclude they are nothing more than rogue landlords. I will say this to Andrew Helms. I know about all the lies you have told about me. You insulted and belittled me. You ruined my tenancy with Aster. You spread untrue gossip about me to neighbours and friends. You even lied to your own bosses when I made a complaint against you insinuating and lying blaming my complaint on an illness I don’t even have. You harassed me. You treated me so badly in my home you left a bad atmosphere in here when you left. That bad omen never left. It is still here today. I can not live in the bad atmosphere you caused and created. Hence why I will be homeless again after I move out but I will regain my happiness back. You are a bully and you should never be allowed into peoples homes. If you are a aster resident reading this , don’t make any complaints against any member of your independent living team or you risk being denied any further maintenance and repairs on your home. You also will be at risk of further harassment and intimidation. If you are not a aster resident reading this and you are considering moving into a aster property I would seriously think again.Its goodbye to Aster from me . If you honestly think I am going to carry on living in your property after the way I have been treated by your staff then you are seriously deluded.

Aster total incompetence.
Today I reported the main entry door into our development was not opening using the fob provided to the residents, I was informed that this was a critical emergency, now 9 hours later this has not ben rectified and care providers cannot gain access. Aster have a duty of care for their residents and this is being regally denied due to their total incompetence and could not care attitude.

This is a review for Lukus Aster repairs gentleman who has been to my house twice in two days fixing a few jobs I’m extremely impressed with the work that he’s carried out and completed to a high standard very respectful to my home and myself enjoyed having a catch with him as he’s so very easy to talk .tidied up behind himself and above that he actually fixed my issues so thank you

Boundary fence.
Our neighbours share a fence with us that is damaged. I have asked Aster to meet and discuss repair. Their representative is not interested in the slightest. Ive asked him to visit site but he palms us off to insurance companies The NHBC, anything to engage with us at the affective area.

I live in Wyke regis Weymouth
I live in Wyke regis Weymouth. Near chisel view . Aster have some properties flats and houses. I own my home and some of the tenants in the immediate area are drug users and cause problems from there drug use to walking there dog with no leads etc.i have to be honest aster have had complaints with these issues never do anything. So I am afraid a waste of time really.

I feel I am being discriminated against
I totally agree with H Hardy's post of 10/10/25.
The same thing has happened to me. Also regarding the CEO.
I could write reams on here. This case has been going on since 2018 without a resolution.
I could write reams.
For the last 3 years I will only have contact with Aster with the written word. Even then there are many what at the very best can be called misleading comments. Because of this I always request a recorded meeting. This they will not agree to.
I would love to have a chat with you H Hardy. I feel you have gone through a lot of what I have.
What is the good of the message they always send at the bottom of any posts saying they will try to help. My emails are restricted. I cannot contact anyone at Aster except one person. I do not even have contact details for my Independent Living Officer.
When asked why my emails are restricted I do not receive a reply to this question. It is a bullying and controlling action on Aster's part.

Over 30 years things have got worse.
Lived on this estate over 30 years. Aster just do not care now. I pay full rent, i feel i should just shut up and put up with it. Repairs not done properly. Complaints get me nowhere - even a stage 2 complaint is never upheld. Contact centre tell us tenants someone will contact us back - they never do. So have to keep chasing things, then just give up. Direct emails do not get answered. Very very frustrating landlord. Please DO NOT tell me to contact in, as that is just a fob off. Thank you. As you can see below they told me to contact in. No thank you. I had a chat with a team leader about not wanting a reply, as stated. Just not reading my review or respecting my wishes.

Truly terrible unfit housing…
Truly terrible unfit housing association. They should be shut down in all fairness.
I live in charlton down . Dorchester. I was under synergy.then aster took over there was a drop in service etc straight away really. The housing officer matt hollinshead. Needs to be retrained or given another job in the company he is absolutely no use what so ever. The property's are not maintained or modernised as should be. They also have not what I would say is widespread but concerning . A few tenants that smoke cannabis in there properties.and don't seem to care. And as for there work men they park any where they like how they like and where there asked to move for people to get by they say we are allowed to park where we wont and have attitude about. If I'm to be honest avoid aster if you can they are shocking.

Unfortunately, I’ve had a very disappointing experience with Aster recently. I reached out three weeks ago to begin the process of trying to buy a shared ownership house and completed the first steps. Since then, nobody has been in contact. I’ve emailed and called multiple times, but have had zero response. Very disappointing.

Best Landlords I have ever had
I have been an Aster tenant since March 2008 and I can honestly say they are the best landlords I have ever had. I am lucky to live in a well built bungalow which I have no doubt helps. Any repairs I have needed have been carried out promptly and to a high standard and all the staff I have had contact with are friendly and great at their jobs. I have solar panels which reduce my bills a lot. Aster even fitted a tall gate to make my back garden more secure and a pretty picket fence at the front. I am a bit upset that when everyone else got a shiny white loo and wash basin in their new bathrooms I got by passed as because I had a level access bathroom fitted a few years ago they seem to think I had a whole new bathroom when all that happened was the bath was removed and a new floor was put in and level access shower. I dream of saying goodbye to my dodgy, hard to clean grey loo and basin but one day it will happen. I actually could do with moving closer to my son who lives in Fordingbridge but I want to stay with Aster because they really are the best.
