The Institute of Applied Canine Science online academy is a delight to use. It’s clearly laid out and easy on the eye, and holds a wealth of material and lectures. Topics range from specific breeds and reactivity case studies to dog and human aggression, play, as well as specialist areas such as sound sensitivity and canine health.

There’s plenty for dog trainers at every level. It covers the foundations, like hand feeding, loose lead walking and recall, and there’s a very helpful diary of how Jo- Rosie raised her own Great Dane puppy.

Members also get monthly Zoom calls, where you can send in questions in advance. You can also book a one-to-one with Jo Rosie to talk through a specific issue or case.

The dog industry is full of puffed-up egos and dogmatic nonsense. Jo Rosie’s down-to-earth, honest, empathetic and approachable style stands out, and it runs through everything she does.

I'm brand new to dog training, and i've been a part of the academy for a couple of months now, and i've learned so much. I've taken on a few free clients just to build up some case studies, and my own knowledge as well, and i've used a lot of the guidance Jo has provided in the institute, and it worked a dream. Honestly, whether you're fresh into dog training or even an expert, I'd highly recommend joining. I love learning about the different behaviours and the psychology behind how certain dogs act and behave. I find the content so detailed and really easy to follow and understand I'd highly recommend the institute to anybody who has an interest in dog training or just in general, trying to understand their own dog.

Jo is so knowledgeable and willing to share her expertise with the world. Each time I log on and watch something I go away full of inspiration and feeling more positive than when I did before watching. I've been training dogs for nearly 6 years and still learn something new from Jo each and every time.

I have really enjoyed the content on The Academy by The Institute of Applied Canine Science. I am a certified dog trainer, but these days mostly train my own dog. She has more than enough behavior issues to keep me busy! What I have really resonated with, is Jo-Rosie's practical, clear and precise instruction. The content is easy to digest and, therefore, easy to implement. I think sometimes we get stuck in the mindset of, yes we can fix this problem, but it may take years.... Most of us don't have years! And Jo-Rosie's instruction and support has made it possible for me to grow and see results in months rather than years. In two months, I was able to go from a stalled 15 minutes of separation anxiety to over an hour with very little stress to my dog. I joined the Academy a few months ago after a friend recommended how good it is. I’ve binged most of content, and now I’m rewatching videos because they are so informative and so detailed, I want to make sure that I haven’t missed anything. I’m new to dog training and I find the academy invaluable, not only for providing tried and trusted protocols but also for the support from Jo-Rosie whether that’s in the monthly group zoom, 1:1 zooms or simply sending her an email. I honestly can’t recommend the academy enough, no matter where you are in canine career there’s something here for you.

I have been a member of The Academy since April and I’ve learned so much and I love being able to go back watch things. There’s a wealth of knowledge on there from training loose lead walking to reactivity/anxiety cases. The monthly group zooms and 1-2-1’s are also invaluable. The community is really supportive as well. Definitely worth the money for everything you can learn.

I’ve been in and out of the Academy since it started 3 years ago. I’ve attended one of Jo-Rosie’s workshops and truly admire not only her vast knowledge, but the way she engages with dogs, her understanding and creative way of being with them.

I have been with the academy for a few months now and I wish I joined sooner. The content is great, in depth, great explanations. Not to mention fresh content and help is there when needed. It’s a friendly community to be apart of too!!

The academy is a great mix of theory and practical. The content is really well put together and I feel like my knowledge doubled! It’s made me a better dog trainer and I feel more confident with some of the more difficult cases. Would 100% recommend.

The Academy is an absolute game changer when it comes to improving your knowledge of dog training.

The content is excellent, and there’s so much of it, plus new updates every month. Jo brings the perfect mix of theory and practice, and I love that she doesn’t just talk about what you should be doing, she actually demonstrates it herself with real cases.

In terms of what’s covered in the modules, I’d say... everything you could possibly want to know and more! Courses cover everything from how to become a dog trainer and training fundamentals (e.g. loose lead walking) to puppies, adolescent dogs, breed-specific topics, behavioural problems, recordings of live in-person workshops with real case studies, and more. I honestly think there’s something for everyone.

Jo has a wealth of knowledge, is actively in the group answering questions runs monthly Q & A's which really make a difference to student learning and retention. The content in the academy is relevant (not a bunch of waffle) research & experienced backed, and for someone just starting out in the dog world - is VERY informative.

It's helped me structure my sessions, given me extra confidence with the tricky cases and in general just helped broaden my understanding of canine behaviour.

I have been watching Jo's videos (The Academy) for just over two weeks now and find them the most informative, no nonsense information and training videos I have ever seen! Ive been a dog trainer for a few years, gone through the various big named training courses, colleges and institutes and have always gone in hopeful and optimistic. But left feeling underwhelmed and never happy with the level, depth or content of the training they provided.

Ive come across Jo-Rosie on several podcasts and when I heard about her starting an academy for dog trainers it sparked my interest. Ive always thought the way she delivers the information and the depth of knowledge she goes into, has been superior to other people and training companies.

The Academy from Jo-Rosie Haffenden is really the best money you can spend on dog training education at the moment.

She manages to cram so much detail into every video, but in a way that is really engaging and easy to follow.

There is content across the basics of becoming a dog trainer right through to in-depth behavioural lectures, business advice, and also just fun stuff to train with your own dogs.

The ability to access live Q&A sessions as well as 1:1 Zoom calls with Jo helps enormously to add clarity to my understanding of the content, and access to Jo's live workshops really makes it a very complete way to learn about dog training and behaviour.

Unlike a lot of subscriptions, there is new content coming all the time, and Jo regularly covers topics that Academy members have requested.

All of the content is focused on education rather than ideology, which is so incredibly essential for new and experienced dog trainers at the moment, while having a really strong focus on ethical training.

I've recommended the academy to other dog trainer friends, as well as many randoms on the internet, because it's just so easy to recommend without hesitation, regardless of your background.
