Not what I expected. the DNA test results just tell you where your parents came from (approx) but doesn't break it down to generations before that by generation. The system relies on others to inpu... Mehr ansehen

The family relationships were cool but the traits were useless. Seemed like a coin toss. Also I thought the results were shared across platforms. It seems that if one person uses ancestry and one use... Mehr ansehen

I am so excited finding new family
I am so excited going through my recently received results.
Found out one of my best friends of 7 years, is actually a 3rd cousin. We had only met on a job 7yrs ago.
As well as a 1st cousin on my mother's side (mom was adopted out) and have already chatted to her for quite a long while ❤️
I definitely recommend, especially if you or a parent were adopted.
Every time I am looking up a relative I…
Every time I am looking up a relative I have to get a membership! hmmm.
Some good info but also confusing
Under "Your communities" I inherited Croatia and Dalmatia (as part of Croatia) from both parents. That's certainly possible from my Father's side but nearly impossible from my Mother's side. Then the map you show incorporates parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia, all under the label of Croatia, and the sub-region of central Dalmatia. So within that larger map mislabelled as Croatia, mainly Bosnia, is where my Mother's community would fall under. Then if I click on individual Paternal/Maternal sides, or Unassigned, it shows "no communities match this filter", only Both. So if this larger "Croatia" map includes parts of Bosnia and Montenegro, then it's possible my Mother's community is included. Then the parental chromosome painter, ancestry seems to "know" which parent is Maternal or Paternal. Why do I have an option to switch the parents? This is where it got more confusing. My closest match is actually my cousin from my Mother's side (who I recognise), ancestry was linking him to my Father's side. Then when I switched the parents for this reason, most of the matches with my Father's surname appeared as my mother's communities' matches. I understand a possible lack of accuracy for the distant 4-8th cousins, but the fact that only Both sides are listed and Individual communities show blank tells me that ancestry doesn't know for sure which parent even with the 4% DNA match to my cousin. Or the chromosomes got mixed up in the process, I've no idea.

Great service
Great service. Fast and reliable. Very happy with the entire service provided 😊
Incredible
Really interesting getting to know myself.
Recurrent charges from Ancestry
My husband looked up 1 thing in the format of the free trial. Then we keep getting charged 97.72$ every 6 months for a service we are not using. We could not even get into the account to try and cancel the membership that we never requested as my husbands email was not registered. He has never gotten a single email from ancestry regarding his account or billing. Watch out !!!!!!!
This program only misleads you
This program only misleads you . I thought i would get more….but no way without paying again and again….The 3 emails a day are just crazy.
They will delay your results ….until you sign up for more services.
Does this sound like a company you want to trust with your DNA results.
A Slow Start, But A Great Recovery
Delivery of the test kit took an age, and I'd almost forgotten about it when it finally arrived, from Ireland I think. However, once the process got underway it was all pretty good, and the results were delivered far earlier than originally projected. E-mails kept me informed of progress, which kept up the sense of anticipation.
The results themselves were, thankfully, not very surprising. They had my ethnicity down very accurately, even to the regions within the UK where my family is from. The traits pages have been very interesting, and surprisingly accurate across the board. The one that stood out was the "Bitter Taste" trait, and that's me. There was too much accuracy for it to be just a game of numbers, so my confidence in the process is high.
I haven't had time to explore people who are, apparently, related to me. The one at the top of the list was known to me, but the rest were new and I will take my time in investigating the familial links. It will be interesting to see if anyone contacts me, but I guess that's all part of the fun.
One thing I would encourage people to do is to take part in the surveys. The more people taking the tests, and the more people providing information, will help build the accuracy for the future.
I'm glad I did the test, and I'm hoping that it will help broaden my family tree experience.
Disappointing could have done the profile myself
My brother convinced me to do this and He got so much more information than I did. My kit was on sale but it was supposed to include which traits were inherited from which parent but it doesn't some of the traits are not accurate. Disappointing
Some of the information was…Interesting but not fulfilling
Some of the information was interesting, but I was expecting a bit more. You see I was adopted at birth and was expecting some information there. It seems that more of the information was about my adopted side surename. I was born the surname McMann and my adopted surname Hammond. Just thought I would have better understanding of my true past as I have no one who has past this on to me.
Thanks Bill
Don't buy the $79.00 package. The extra $10.00 gives a lot more.
My partner bought the $79.00 package for me. He did not understand the difference that an extra $10.00 would make. We believe he was given the $89.00 package and it had many details about parents, potential personality traits, etc. If we had understood the details better, he would have paid the extra $10.00. Be sure to get the package that has personality traits, etc.
As it is the $79.00 package really told me no more than I already knew. It was our choice, but I wish the descriptions had been a little clearer and we would have spent the extra $10.00 for a much better package.
My wife DNA results and mine were switched
I was disappointed that my results and my wife's results were mixed. My wife has not yet received the Ancestry e-mail she is supposed to receive. This E-mail, very likely will show my DNA results.
The E-mail I received showed her ancestry, not mine.
I hope you understand what happened. The results are switched.
I couldn't open the page
I couldn't open the page, it kept saying not authorized to see it
Not happy
I was really looking forward to seeing my results. Both my wife and I bought the kits...exactly the same kits. My wife had hers returned first, with mine returning over 3 weeks after hers. We did ship them off at the same time. When my wife got her results nothing was locked and she was able to see all her traits. Most of her items were unlocked. When I got my test back...exactly the same test, paid over 160.00 for each DNA test. My test was locked. No traits visible No father and mother DNA look up available. Why?? We paid for 2 test...two test that were the same. Now am you are forcing me to pay more money to look at info that my wife got see for No extra cost. Please explain this to me.
2 kits sent in only received results for 1..
We sent in 2 DNA kits and have only received information for 1. Activation codes are... David Koropchuk J7J-5A8A-3J5M-3Q2D received.. Margaret Koropchuk J8L-7X7N-8P3P-5H6Y NOT RECEIVED YET. Both mailed the same day at the same time.February 5/2024.
Disappointed
I have a third cousin and you got her down as a 4 to 6 th causin and then you have a person that is a first or second causin and that person would be impossible to even be related to me.
Need better customer service
I bought my first kit in november, and despite following the instructions very carefully, my sample did not analyze. The issue is that my replacement kit was lost and never made it to my address. Additionally, when i tried to ask if we could expedite the second replacement kit because i had already been waiting for months for my results, Ancestry said they could not do that, which meant i had to wait another 10 days for my kit to arrive, about 2 weeks for my kit to be received at the Ancestry office, and then weeks before i could finally get my results back. They should be able to provide a faster solutions for these kinds of situations. Again, i bought my kit in november 2023 and have now just received my results in march 2024. Even then, you have to pay additional fees for detailed information, so it has not been a good experience for me
