Never showed up. They owe us $2000

On June 5 2024 . I did a search online for a moving company. The next day I was contacted by one Dennis I told him I was moving from New York to Florida and he told me how great his company was and he had just moved from New York.he asked me to send him a list of things I was moving and pictures. He kept calling me every day asking me for the pictures I eventually send them. He Gave me a price of 2,191. 60. because he had a special. And to hold that price I had to make the deposit. I use my friend credit card made a payment of 1,025.34 a few days later an adjuster call for the list of things again. A week later a truck came with a total different price . I called the company they gave me the runaround. I called Dennis who I was working with and he stop taking my calls . I reached out to the company on many occasions to hear someone l will get in touch.. never heard from them . My friend reached out to credit card company and was told we had 14 days to file for a refund and the time had pass. I never got a refund or a move.. this company is a scam. They gave you a price and then they used a third party. People beware.!! Dennis gave me his personal number because he wanted to rob me and then he would send me to voicemail every time I call . I texted him on several occasions and nothing..

If only i can give negative star i would. From the start, I had concerns about Christy White, the lady who quoted me. She was overly pushy, insisted on staying on the phone even when I said I'd call back, and gave me a low quote of $2924 to secure the job. After paying, she became unreachable. On pickup day, a different company showed up a United Speed Movers, claiming to be affiliates of American Movers, and demanded more money or they'd refuse my items a total of $5943. Despite Christy promising delivery within 2-4 days it become one week, the customer service representative I spoke to later seemed dismissive and unhelpful, citing human limitations and unforeseen circumstances like mudslides (which weren't an issue when they arrived).

Things escalated when, a day before delivery, someone they demanded an additional $800 for shuttle services due to truck size issues. They should arrive Thursday of July 17 but they arrived Friday, and despite knowing my schedule that im leaving that day so my scheduled got delayed because of them, they sent a U-Haul with two workers who didn't seem professional - one couldn't speak English, and they lacked necessary tools, making me dig out my own to assemble furniture. To top it off, one of the workers took my water camera while handling my belongings and go through my stuff. I message them and no response from them. You cant reach any of them anymore. Even the email of the receipt you cant open it anymore. The lack of communication and care after payment has been shocking. This has been my worst experience with movers, and I'm still dealing with the aftermath. So please please please don't take this company they are scammers.

I contracted American Way Movers for an interstate move from Pittsburgh to Nashville, and it was one of the worst consumer experiences I’ve ever had.

Misrepresentation: They presented themselves as a moving company, but they are actually a broker. This was never made clear until the day of the move.
False Promises: I was verbally assured multiple times — even days before the move — that my belongings would be delivered directly within 1–2 days. When the carrier arrived, they told me, “Oh, they lied to you,” and my delivery ended up taking five weeks.
Bait-and-Switch Pricing: Despite reviewing my inventory multiple times and assuring me it would fit in the truck space I paid for, the carrier claimed I had 2–3x too much stuff and demanded hundreds more dollars to load it.
No Accountability: Once my items were picked up, American Way Movers told me they had no obligation to me and that any issues with the carrier were not their responsibility — even though they hired the carrier.
Customer Service Nightmare: There’s one phone number. You’ll wait on hold for 30+ minutes, only to be hung up on. No one returns calls. No one helps.
No Claims Support: Now that I’m trying to file a claim, there is no contact info or support available.
This company fits the profile of every moving scam listed on the FTC’s website. I strongly urge others to avoid this broker and seek out reputable, direct moving companies instead.

The WORST move I've ever experienced...and I'm a veteran's wife who made several military moves so that says a lot. Go with the big boys for an interstate move. It may be more expensive but it will be worth the piece of mind.
The estimate was hurried and way off. I was asked to list our "large" items, which I did, they estimated 100 medium boxes, and we also figured in a 10x15 storage unit as we were preparing our house to sell. They assured me that we would have the "whole semi" and if we needed more space we would have it. We received a "binding" estimate.

After the estimate I remembered several large items & emailed to advise them. At that time I was told that we could make adjustments when they performed the pre-move checklist about a week out from our move.

A week out we received an email with a listing to check "items often forgotten." Those were all the small items & that list was MUCH more thorough and would have been useful to have before getting the estimate. I emailed the list & scheduled a phone call to go over this list. Our price jumped by 1/2 only 1 week out from our move and too late to schedule anyone else. Oh, and this new scheduler had deleted the storage unit because it wasn't clear on the estimate that it was a storage unit.

On moving day we realized that American Way is only a broker. Yes, it is hidden in the paperwork, but if you're not a mover some of those details are unclear and it was NOT explained on the phone.

The scheduled movers showed up with a "semi" that was much too small. It was a large box truck, not a trailer, and only had enough room for our household good, not our storage unit. As we were mover across the country the next day we ended up having to give them a key to the storage unit so they could pick it up at a later date. OH, and the estimate was again too small. And our price went up another $4000+...and they want CASH, or a cashiers check. No credit cards accepted. They were there, we were closing on selling our house the next day....talk about having someone over a barrel.

We were given an agreed upon AND VERIFIED delivery date. When delivery day arrived the truck showed up, but not the workers to unload the truck. We wasted 4+ hours waiting for them to find people (off Craigslist) to unload the truck.

On top of all that, the movers who loaded the truck disassembled our futon, and the unloaders were unable to reassemble it. We were assured the movers who delivered the storage unit would be able to reassemble it. They could not.

We advised them from the beginning of the process, that we had a couple items that needed special care. One of those items was a very detailed, very delicate, model of a ship my deceased father had built. American Way assured us it would be crated, and requested a photo of how it had been previously crated (which I provided from when we moved from Virginia to Texas with Mayflower and it arrived in perfect condition.) The day of the move I found the movers had not only left it on the floor to move a piece of furniture, it had been kicked & a piece broken. THEN, the "crate" was cardboard, which they stuffed with paper to "cushion" it. If I had seen it being packed I would have stopped them. I cannot express how broken-up it was when I unpacked it. There were several other items broken and/or damaged as well.

On the phone American Way kept saying Mayflower (etc) are all so much more expensive. I think that was a selling pitch. I probably ended up paying the same amount with much worse results.

If you choose this company you do so to your own peril

American Way Moving was a pleasure to work with. Fedor and his team were professional, courteous, had reasonable prices and were on-time with the delivery of services. They accommodated a “storage request” which is typically not in their scope of services. We moved from Maryland to Virginia and it was seamless.

AVOID AMERICAN WAY MOVING COMPANY!!

What was promised as a “simple” move turned into a nightmare. Our quote jumped from $8.8K to nearly $20K with little explanation. We were told delivery would take 2–3 days—it ended up being nearly 2–3 weeks. Communication was poor, we had to deal with the carrier directly, and many of our items arrived damaged after being moved between trucks. Absolutely no accountability. I do not recommend this company.

This company was amazing! They showed up right on time, were super organized, clean, and incredibly fast. Everything was handled with care and precision — no stress at all. Huge thanks to Artem and Alex for being absolutely the best! They were kind, efficient, and worked so well together. I’d 100% recommend them and will definitely use them again.

So American Way Movers is a total Shit-show. Booked, did everything. Was supposed to hear from the moving truck the last couple days to confirm- No communication. My reps- no response. Called customer service today- they said oh - the truck is coming tomorrow- Asked about a refund- nope. They then said- we are reaching out now to let you know- I reached out to them. So I won't need to seek a refund- but I have a social following that reaches over a Million people who will hear about it.

Oh and now they’re saying it will take a week to arrive.

I waited 8 months to write this review because I would relive the stress every time I tried. If I could give -100 stars I would. Terrible service, worst I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Run, run like your butt is on fire.

My wife contacted them and got an estimate for our move which included a garden tractor and china cabinet and antique kitchen cupboard. After some time we decided we needed more room in the truck. We called and reserved 1664 cubic feet (8x8x26), also changed the garden tractor to a small golf cart, all of which was okayed. When the truck arrived, everything changed. The golf cart was declared too big and we would be charged $800-1000.00 more for that. The cabinets they would charge an extra $300 a piece for them, be cause they were antique. They picked out this and that that they couldn’t take. They loaded the 26 foot truck to 18 feet claiming that’s what we paid for and if we wanted to fill the rest of the truck it would be another $3000.00. I called American way and told them what was going on and was told what ever the driver said is what they were going to do. After some serious cursing and yelling, I told my wife to give them a check and get them out of here. Our son in-law showed up and told me I was right about the size of the load, as he was an other the road trucker. He volunteered to drive a U-Haul truck for us to get the rest of our stuff. We could have rented 2 26 foot U-Haul trucks for about a third of what they were charging us for 3/4 of a truck load. When they finally arrived at our new house they hurried and unloaded everything and ran off. As we were going through everything, we found they had broken the rocker on our antique rocking chair, wrapped it with packing tape and set it in a corner so it wouldn’t be noticed right away. The broke the wood stand for our tv trays, left half the cables for the tv behind, they wrapped the night stands with movers blanks taped on them, then turned them upside down with all our stuff in them. Things in the drawers was damaged. The whole operation was an unprofessional disaster. My son in-law explained what they do is sell you a contract, then sell that contract to an independent contractor that comes and changes the conditions of your contract. In my opinion it is nothing but a scam to take advantage of people in their time of need, thinking you’ll buckle under the pressure of getting your stuff moved and you don’t have time to make other arrangements. I wish I had listened to the other reviewers and avoided this company like the plague. I should have rented 2 U-Haul trucks and moved everything myself. I would have saved several thousand dollars, avoided extreme stress levels and all my stuff would have arrived safely. My suggestion is to run, do not let these people take advantage of you.

I picked this moving company because they had very good reviews & now I know why. These 3 guys took absolute care of everything & worked their tails off getting all our items in one truck load! They were master packers, wrapped everything & not one bit a damage to anything they moved.
Very polite & professional and I would highly recommend these movers. Out of 10, I would rate them a 15!! In addition, their pricing was reasonable.

This company is not a moving company, they are a broker and have zero trucks per the fmcsa records. They need to stop saying they are a moving company when in fact they are not and give other companies with similar names that are legitimate a bad name and they get their google reviews because they don't have a google maps page.

I wish I didn't have to give 1 star. Please stay way from this company. They will try to nickel and dime you at the last minute when they feel like you have no other choice but to pay additional or leave it behind. We will be seeking representation on this matter

Stay away from this company! I moved from Northwest Arkansas to South Florida in March 2025. They quoted me one price over the phone, and then increased it substantially based on the square footage used (scam alert!). This move cost me almost $6,000!. I was told my truck would deliver my furniture on April 1st, but it was only on April 18th (17 days later). They hire a third party freight company, what means that they move your stuff from truck to truck in different locations, increasing the risk of loosing and breaking down objects. Also, the company has no control over your belongings after your goods leave your house. In addition to that, I had several items broken and missing and their customer service is below average.

Payed for move up front. Referred to contracted out movers which I was unaware of them doing. Other company DAMAGED property, lost boxes, packers spoke poor English, truckers who delivered spoke no English but “you pay now”. R at this company would not return calls. I feel our family was taken to the cleaners by this company as we lost money on items that were irreplaceable!

Do not hire them in any circumstances. An unreliable, manipulative, liar team. They call you and represent themselves as professional movers while they are just a broker with zero dignity and responsibility. They charge you and set you up with a mover company that will give you an estimate at pick up with 3 to 4 times of the estimate was provided to you. They say their initial estimate is “binding” but it’s absolute lie. Their mover company picked up my things from VA for delivery at FL but instead took my belongings all the way up to NJ because their warehouse was there and they wanted their truck be full. The mover company took the charge up for 3.5 tImes more, from $1600 changed to $5600 after loading, only for one bedroom apartment , The united speed company that is their subcontractor and has only 2 trucks, the worst customer service, disrespectful, they are even threatening me while all my belongings are still in their hostage! They are the worst nightmare that can happen to you.

Beau helped me get everything inventoried he had an awesome personality. The foreman arrived as promised on the day we scheduled and I’m now happy and settled at my new place. Great guys all around and the price was about 1/3 less than other companies.

We commissioned American Way Moving on March 5, 2025 and paid 2700.00 down for an out of state move. We were unable to complete our plans so asked a couple days later to cancel and get our deposit back. We have been arguing with them since to get our money back. They either would not answer their phone or if they did we would get all kinds of excuses . We filed a report with the BBB, also called the attorney general and got numbers and ideas of who to call and how to go about getting our money back. This has been a nightmare considering it isn’t just a 10.00 investment. We were told last week the money would be released last Friday but no such luck. We called today and told them that the next step is to deal
With our attorney and we will be filing a claim in court for the settlement and they will
have to pay not only our deposit but also pay all the attorney and court fees. We were at that breaking point and it seems that the call this morning was finally taken seriously and this afternoon the deposit is on hold now at our bank. Apparently it is easier for them to refund our money than go to court over what would have been such an easy fix. We never received an apology or an I’m sorry. I would not recommend this company.

I was going to be moving to Florida at the end of May. I called American way to give me a quote. I paid my deposit , but I decided to check out the reviews on them. There were a lot of people saying they received a quote and then when the movers showed up the price was almost double of what was quoted. So I became concerned and we did a walk through of my house, by video and sure enough the price doubled. No matter what I removed off the list because they had added stuff I said I was not taking on the second quote the price did not go down. I was upset because I could not afford that much. Then I ran into a problem with my financing in Florida so it was going to be longer before I got to move. Now I am fight to get my deposit back. Customer service will not answer the phone,I was on hold for 2 hours one day . Nor will they answer my emails. I guess they figure I will give up. They do not know me very well.
