HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

I thought the good reviews outweighed the bad reviews but I should have never agreed to have these guys “ help” us. Now that I have had such a terrible experience with them I know to trust the bad reviews and steer clear !!! I write this as a warning for others! …..

This was called Amity 1 before the name was changed to American Tax Defense
We paid nearly $6,000 to get relief that we were told could be our taxes greatly reduced or even forgiven! Well neither of those things happened but it was over a year of filling out forms and gathering statements and info just like getting audited . We kept getting passed on to different case managers only to be asked to fill out more forms etc… after over a year the resolution they came up with was getting us in a non collectable status with the irs but we still owe all of it plus more as there are penalties snd late fees that accrued even more throughout the year they took to get our taxes filed. Now there is a lien on our home!!! And the price owed keeps going up!
I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!

Oh yeah, and they accidentally sent me somebody else’s personal info papers! They were sent to me along with mine! Yikes!! Makes me wonder how often that happens! That alone should have made me run from any more involvement with them. Big mistake!

Clark was very nice but what he told us they could do for us did not happen in ANY way or form. We trusted him! Cody seemed nice but did not help us get any tax reduction resolution either. We ended up owing more in the long run along with having had paid them nearly $6k . Some help they were!

American tax defense is nothing but a bunch of liars. When I originally signed up, I was informed I would have to do nothing and they would handle everything. Well, after they got all the funds required, I was informed that I had to contact the IRS to resolve the ID problems I spoke about when I signed the contract. That is a breach in contract but they say it is not. After they got all the money from the contract, they told me they would call and discuss the finding from the investigation. They didn’t call and I called a few days later and was told the investigation was not finished. I don’t understand, it is either finished or not. Well, I was told it was and when they didn’t call, the red representative said he had told me what I wanted to hear. Now, I found out that the IRS says I owe them $1500 and American tax defense said they would handle all the negotiations with the IRS for only $3500. Now I thought those places were supposed to save you money. How is $3500 less than $1500? Don’t agree to have them “help you”. They are nothing but scammers and all they do is promise positive results but will NOT put in writing and then say “we never said that”.

It was amazing working with these guys they made everything so much easier.

this company scammed me out of $7419.00 dollars and did nothing for me. The man I had James Detweiler he lied to me wouldnt return calls or emails. They were su[ppossed to do my 2024 tax returns they talked me into it. I had extentions thank god. Had not heard from them by August 10th had to take my tax info to my accountant in town after paying this company all of this money. Come to find out the man James was no longer with the company. Nobody told me that until later on. He was incompetent and needed to go. He did me wrong but this company will not return my money. They were also suppossed to help me with a tax lein of owing the IRS 252,000. They promised they were going to get my tax bill down to 2500. -5000 with a very low payment. I was desperate and he knew it. Got all of this money from two different accounts and a credit card with two different company names Amity Tax and American Tax Defense. I went to my bank they are doing their own investigations. He was such a scammer Nothing has been done for me now trying to go after me for more money. I am a senior citizen 70 years old a widow and they took the last of my money this all started in May 2025. After James got the money he didnt do anything. Was supposed to get info from me to do my taxes and never did a thing.

I had a complicated business tax case and they handled it with ease. Very impressed.

I had the best experience at American tax defense thanks to Star. She was very knowledgeable and helped me with all my questions. I’ll will definitely be coming back!
