I'm a relatively intelligent woman but would have struggled to navigate the process of purchasing an annuity without the help of Age Partnership. Professional and diligent approach
Age Partnership Plus (AP) delivered the correct Equity Release product to match off against our scenario. Although the whole process took about 10 months from our initial call to money in our account, AP were diligent in their approach throughout. Their Advisor, Owen Sayer, was thorough in trying to find a solution for our particular scenario. Our situation was complicated by the fact we were a new build property and our title deeds were interlinked with an Estate Management company, and this put off a number of lenders. However Owen persevered and went Whole of Market to get us a solution we could work with. He was very patient throughout, particularly with my many and diverse emails wanting explanations of every stage. I would recommend Age Partnership, as I am confident that no matter what your circumstances they will find a way to help you.

Avoiding Equity Release
I am 63 with over £500,000 equity in my home and wanted to secure £100,000. I initially explored equity release, but the terms I was offered were far less attractive than a standard remortgage.
I have now secured a 6‑year interest‑only remortgage at about 4%: around £360 a month for the first two years, then about £550 if I stayed on the lender’s standard rate. Crucially, after the 2‑year fix I am free to remortgage again or repay early without exit penalties, so I can move if rates fall or my circumstances change.
By contrast, the equity‑release options came with much higher interest rates, tight restrictions on how the money could be used, and sizeable early‑repayment charges clearly designed to lock you in for the long term. In my view, that structure is only really suitable for people who have no alternative borrowing route or cannot commit to monthly payments.
My message to others in a similar position is simple: before signing up to equity release, insist on seeing like‑for‑like figures for an ordinary remortgage or retirement interest‑only mortgage. If you have sufficient income to service the interest each month, a conventional mortgage can be far cheaper and far more flexible than being tied into an equity‑release plan.
On costs, I am paying no upfront charges for my remortgage. The equity‑release quote included around £2,000 in advice/product fees plus legal fees, approaching £4,000 in total.
To be fair, the advisers I dealt with were professional, courteous and responsive. The service was excellent – but in my circumstances the product was hugely disappointing.

Due to new circumstances I needed to take out a lifetime mortgage. I found Age Partnership simply by search lifetime mortgage. I spoke mainly with Michael Oliver and partly with Lauren. Both were very patient with me as I was constantly b changing my mind. They were professional and in no way tried to ‘sell’ me anything by force but kindly explained the pros and cons of equity release. Once my mind was made up the process took place speedily. Harassment from Agepartnership
Since my review of this company in October, I have been harassed by someone, who claims he works in their complaint department.
He claims that he has to treat a review on TrustPilot as a formal complaint against the company.
However, I made a review of the company on 23/06/25 but no one from the company has treated this review as a formal complaint.
I have told this person to stop contacting me but he still continues to send me emails.
