I chose Africhange because of its stated mission: helping African families send money across borders safely and fairly.
Unfortunately, my recent experience has raised serious concerns about how those values are applied in practice.

My partner tried to open an account so he could transfer funds to me after winning a High Court case in Nigeria. Because his phone, SIM card, and laptop were stolen during a raid on his residence, he permanently lost access to the email address originally used when he created an account months earlier.

When he contacted Africhange support, he was transparent about the situation and offered to provide full identity verification (government ID and National Identification Number). Instead of being guided through the verification process, he received repeated template responses saying the company could not offer him an account due to “compliance requirements.”
No explanation was provided.
No opportunity to submit documents was given.
No clear appeals process existed.

What made this situation particularly concerning was the communication pattern. Messages sent from my partner often went unanswered, while emails sent by me received prompt replies. Support even claimed responses had been sent to him that never arrived.

After exhausting normal support channels, I contacted the CEO directly. He acknowledged the case and said he would speak with the compliance team. A week later, the response was simply that the decision was “final,” again without any explanation.

Compliance is essential in financial services. But compliance should be a process that verifies identity and protects customers, not a vague statement used to close a case without transparency or due process.
Customers deserve:
• a chance to complete identity verification
• clear explanations when service is denied
• a transparent escalation process

Because of the lack of transparency and resolution, the matter has now been escalated to Canadian consumer protection authorities.

I hope Africhange takes situations like this seriously and reviews how its compliance and support processes treat customers who are simply trying to resolve legitimate account issues.

There is a lot of improvement in the process time for credited naira to get to my home country after my last complaint. However, competition is not charging for transferring from wallet naira account to a commercial bank account even though your rates are better compared to competition, please reduce the N1,000.00 flat rate or remove it entirely to stay ahead of competition.
