This was my first time at an Across the Room event. The venue was Channels in Chelmsford. It was a beautiful setting and well organised. The food was good. It was nice to meet new people and socialise. I enjoyed the disco the best though! I do love a dance and it was nice to get dressed up. A great evening.

Coming back after a long time , if it works why change it, Friday night all was quiet, I entered the hall ,and there was surrounded by a mix of singles all looking forward to the evening ahead, your on table 2 first tonight Eleanor said, a few minutes at the bar and I found my seat marked by my name , that was my dance card and my first seat for the night 😲,melon/ roast beef/Eton mess great menu ,the main course was good, but the other courses needed some TLC , lots of chatting around the table
6 dance card dances , slow classic love songs, then the DJ took over the night with great tunes that we all new, until midnight. Great night out , I even stayed the night and met up with a few members for breakfast 😁

Dear Eleanor, I would just like you to know how much I enjoyed Friday Night at Channels, the venue is lovely, the food was good, the dessert Eaton Mess was a little too sweet but overall good. The DJ played a good mixture but I did notice he was asked to turn it down and he did, as we like to dance but chat as well.
I met some lovely gentleman, but not yet the man of my dreams. I am going to check your events calendar now to book the next event as you do an amazing job. It is great how you manage to arrange the events so well, I have told my friends over the weekend about Channels and what fun I had, so you will definitely have some new members. Keep up the good work!

I attended the dinner and dance at Channels hotel on 17th April. It was such a lively and fun experience. The atmosphere was friendly, the food was excellent, disco was great fun. Great venue and great organisation. Thank you

I attended this event with high hopes, but unfortunately, it was a massive letdown. The primary issue was a total mismatch in expectations regarding the demographic. While the event was marketed for a certain age range, the actual crowd was significantly older than advertised.

When I approached the organizer to politely mention that the demographic didn't align with the event’s description, her response was incredibly disappointing. Rather than being professional or receptive, she was defensive and disconcerted - Elenor brushed off valid concerns as if they didn't matter and became combative instead of looking for a solution or providing clarity.

The entire evening felt completely unorganised and mismanaged. There was zero care or attention given to newer attendees; if you weren't part of the "old guard," you were essentially invisible. It’s clear the organizers are stuck in the past and have no intention of evolving based on feedback.

They desperately need to realize that the market has shifted—**60 is the new 50**, and people expect a modern, vibrant atmosphere, not a stagnant time capsule. If they don't start changing with the times, they’re going to lose any chance of attracting a fresh crowd.

I will not be attending again. If you want a social club, it’s good, but that’s if you are willing to fight off lecherous men who are ungracious. Save your time and money for an event where the organisers actually value their guests and stay true to their word.

I appreciate the reply, though I find it telling that you contacted the friend who booked the event instead of speaking with me.

I am well aware of your business’s track record, but my review concerns your behaviour, not your resume. Being told to "send an email" when I approached you politely was dismissive and unprofessional. I wasn't looking for perfection, but I did expect a basic level of hospitality when raising a valid concern about the age demographics at my table.

It appears we have different standards for professional courtesy.

Once again, you are explaining the success of your events and giving me a pointless history lesson when all I was saying was your attitude was not professional.

For the record, you do have my number because someone called me prior to the event asking me to bring a pen.

It’s a shame you were not this attentive on the night face to face to me, you would rather interact on a public platform. I would rather not have any further interaction with you as it’s a waste of both of our time and energy.

The Valentines Black tie event ball.
I was very impressed with the venue and on arrival was met and greeted by Eleanor’s team.
Having been shown to our tables and seated the gentleman introduced themselves both to my right and left the evening began!!
The three course meal was served and everyone was enthusiastic and engaging with one and other food was great.
Now the evening got underway with the DJ playing amazing music that was very diverse throughout the entire evening that kept us dancing all night long!!
Eleanor and her team were wonderful and very attentive to everyone making our evening special..
Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!!

I had an amazing time at the Valentine's Ball, met some very interesting people and the music was a great mix for different age groups. Having the event on the Saturday was a plus.

A Fabulous Friendly Party Night

What a fantastic night we had at the Valentine's Black Tie Ball. There was an electric atmosphere as guests gathered for drinks in their beautiful gowns and dinner suits, happily chatting and making new friends. The event was professionally and seemlessly organised with a seating plan for the first course. The gentlemen move tables after each course, providing many opportunities to chat to new friends or perhaps get to know one or two of the guests a little better. The hotel served the special Valentine's supper promptly and efficiently, as would be expected from one of Norfolk's premier venues. Guests mixed easily and warmly at the bar as the dancing began and the evening really took off! The music was a great mix and got even the most reluctant dancers up on the dancefloor and the party continued until the early hours. A great success, yet again! Thank you, Eleanor.

I attended the valentines ball with across the room. This was my first event which I attended alone. I was extremely nervous but I need not have been because I was made to feel extremely welcome. It was a very pleasant fun evening with a good equal
Mix of both male and female attendees. The music was a good mix. However I was disappointed with the meal.
On the whole the evening was worth it and I will attend further events. Thank you Eleanor

I attended the Across The Room Valentine's Ball in Barnham Broom 2026, having already been to several of their ATR Events. As always, the attention to detail was 10/10.
Checking in on arrival, close to drinks bar, there were many smiling faces, chatting to people they'd never met before. It was evident that they felt were in good company, and were looking forward to having a great night!
The table layout, with 10 people on each (at a guess)of the 15 tables, worked brilliantly, with each sex sitting next to an opposite sex.
Each person had a swish, hand made dance card, which worked very well.
Complimentary bottles of white and red wine were (imo) ample during the meal.
A well presented, deliciously tasting 3 course meal was served promptly, and professionally.
At the end of each course, men were asked to move to a different table, enabling them to meet many other ladies, vice versa.
As the 3rd course was almost consumed, the enthusiastic DJ played well recieved tracks, just waiting for the meal to be over.
The music was varied, from seventies to naughties. The dance floor was full, but not crammed.
The DJ had his pre-planned set, but accepted and played requests.
Etiquette was observed by the men, as they politely asked ladies they'd never met, for a dance. It was such a vibrant, friendly atmosphere, just as each ATR Event I'd attended.
Personally, speaking as an attendee, I truly had The Best Valentine's Day ever.
I met some wonderful, chatty and friendly ladies that night. It was one of occasions that can really change people's lives, possibly for ever ;)

If I'm honest avoid I wouldnt recommend £95 bit of a joke really to join , women always sounds a bit harsh on the phone and unfriendly strict

I had a genuinely lovely experience with Across The Room. The events were well-organised, welcoming, and full of great conversation. I met someone special through one of their evenings, and we’ve been getting to know each other ever since. The team made everything feel relaxed and natural, and I’m so glad I gave it a go. Highly recommend for anyone looking to meet someone in a thoughtful, personal way.

I find the whole event friendly, with a good atmosphere. People go to enjoy a great night out,where it's possible to make friends, or start dating someone special. No dating apps that's the bonus, real people.

At across the room, you chat,meet friends ,have enjoyable meal and dance.

Eleanor and her team are always there,to ensure the night goes well.

Of course I will be returning again.

I attended the annual black tie ball at Stock Brook manner country and golf club. The atmosphere was great, food was nicely prepared and disco well presented. Any body joining for the first time its a real MUST. There is a variety of people of all different age groups so you are able to judge who you see and date

As always the Across The Room Black Tye evening at Stock Brook Manor was A great Happy spectacle to start New year’s celebrations. I found the people who attended were friendly and receptive and a good mixture of ages which was good for everybody.
The quality of food was good and I would definitely attend next year if still unattached

I attended the black tie event at stock brook. Was very excited after being recommended by a work colleague, so feel sad writing this review. Venue was beautiful and food was nice, I also got to chat with some nice ladies during the night, but unfortunately did not have a good night as was placed at the wrong table for my age, with men much older. I was advised afterwards to let the team know, so emailed them after the event as the night was busy with people, also I did not know the team and no one came to check on me or my experience on the night. Response came across, in my opinion, as defensive and deflective of blame. No empathy, understanding or real apology for their mistake. Instead blaming hindsight and member numbers. This lead to what I view as poor communication between myself and them. An expensive and disappointing night. I won’t be spending my money with them again

Went to 1 event and was not impressed, also recommended by a few members NOT to pay the membership.
Just had a call to say I could have a free profile only then to be rejected as I have a couple of facial piecing. I said this doesn't change me as a person but apparently that means I don't fit "the criteria"
Apparently looks matter more than the person, who knew!

This is a brilliant singles social networking events organisation. I love the various event types have been going to a good few now and certainly will carry on until I find somebody compatible. Its a good place to make some good friends. The events are setup with a lot of thought and hard work. I found the organisers understanding and supportive. The food is always lovely with the option for vegetarians. Everybody makes a good effort to dress up for the evening.
