ACES Eye Clinic Bewertungen 

I had been referred to Aces Eye Clinic by my optician for a preliminary assessment (and subsequent surgery) on a cataract problem in one eye. Was contacted by a representative of the organisation within 24 hours and given an initial time for the very next day (which I could not commit to) they then pushed for a another appointment within the next 48 hours, initially I was very impressed with this level of service.A date/ time was arranged with a promise to confirm by email. 2 days later and I still hadn’t received this confirmation, rang them back to make sure I was booked in and wouldn’t have a wasted journey, they confirmed appointment and promised another confirmation email, this also never arrived. Eventually I contacted them and confirmed an 11.20 am appointment time, for a preliminary assessment for cataract treatment. When I arrived for the appointment I was greeted and booked in by very young member of staff who also seemed to be doing multiple other tasks (which appeared to be some of the consultation tasks?). Sat waiting for my appointment until 12.40 pm, whilst numerous patients arrived and went into (what seemed to be) later appointments. Upon enquiring as to when I might actually see someone the ‘receptionist’ gave me a blank look and said ‘I would be soon’ she did appear to go somewhere to check but never came back to me to give me any sort of confirmation. I had sat in reception for the 90 plus minutes listening to the receptionists calling people with appointments later in the day encouraging them to come in earlier ‘on speck’?’. I found this most concerning, they seemed to by trying to get as many bookings crammed into the day as possible (could this be related the the incentive provided by the NHS subcontracting scheme?) it felt very much as if they were quantity (not quality) driven. The final straw came when an elderly lady ( who had been waiting from an appointment earlier than ours) was actually called, we had spoken to her during the wait about the delays and as she was passing she told us that she was there for ‘more’ (I got the impression it was quite a few more) remedial treatment on a failed cataract operation 5 months earlier and she was currently blind in that eye and had been since the operation!! At this point my confidence in these people (which was already low) evaporated completely and I cancelled the appointment, having made a special trip into Cambridge for this. Completely and utterly disappointed with these people as an organisation and care giver, would certainly not (ever) trust them with something as important as my eyesight.
Going back to my optician to get a referral to a genuine NHS facility, even if I have to wait! Total amateurs,

Everyone at the ACES clinic was so friendly and helpful to me & they all know exactly what they are doing.

First appointment made 3 weeks time , phoned to ask if anything sooner and given next day!
Expect to hear in couple of weeks results of eye examination.

However both the persons who looked after me were excellent and very professional and I felt quite relaxed thanks to them.

Referred to Aces by Specsavers. Accepted the appointment request on NHS app and then waited to hear from Aces.
Within 2 days I received a questionnaire from Aces asking how they did, when I hadn’t been given an appointment. In fact, I was never given an appointment and when I called to chase, they said they had no record of me! Was then offered an appointment miles from where I should have been going. I said I didn’t want to use them and asked for a re-referral somewhere else.
Complete shambles.

The guide book provided was informative. The staff were helpful, pleasant and professional. The atmosphere was calm. My procedure was not straight forward, but the consultant surgeon acted diligently and deliberately in order to obtain the best result, and hopefully the outcome will prove to be that which satisfies everyone concerned.

The clinic in Cambridge were excellent, staff,surgery, care, everything. My nhs referral was very quick to receive an appt for assessment and following on with surgery. Both surgeons were efficient, giving me no worries of having the surgery. One eye done 13/2/25,and second eye 8/3/25.I was extremely nervous but put at my ease by all the staff. Aftercare by telephone was on time. Questions asked to ascertain all was as it should be. Thank you Aces clinic for being professional and putting a little faith back in the NHS.

So iv been at aces since 2019 was happy with my check ups. I then told them i was having visual problems n they put me on a list for a procedure. Three years later with no check ups or appointment for said procedure i contacted them. So they booked me an appointment my son booked a day off work and they canceled the appointment on the morning. I then made a complaint. A virtual eye exam was done with no dr n i received my results through a call centre. As i had a strange turn i was hoping to speak to a dr. Not a chance. So tomorrow i have an appointment for said procedure my husbands booked a day off of work and 20 minutes ago they rang to say they wanted to cancel this appointment.... absolutely disgusting.

I know that this is a medical facility, but their sense of timing is a joke. Last week on arrival they said after I enquired that they were running a little late. A little to them can be an hour or more! This week I asked if they were running on time, and indications were that they were. In truth they were running even later than the previous week. I wouldn’t normally be annoyed, but as a full time carer for my wife, who I had left at home, I needed them to be truthful and not lie! They offered no apologies or explanations as to why there are these delays!

I had Lens Replacement Surgery yesterday morning and I am now writing this review without glasses!!!! I have a very high prescription and couldn't see anything but shapes and colours without my glasses, and it's not even 30 hours since surgery and I can walk around and read my mobile! The surgeon Mirna and the nurses John and Jayne, together with the many other nurses that looked after me at Chelmsford, made me feel at ease and helped me relax. I can't wait to see how will things look like in 1 or 2 months from now!! Thank you!

Arrived to the clinic to find out the person who had adjusted our appointment the day before had not put it in the system, but Annette to the rescue! With no fuss at all she got our appointment sorted, and not only that went out of her way to support my father in law who is also extremely hard of hearing. She was so friendly and supportive, and honestly is an absolute diamond of a member of staff! The true definition of patient centred care!
