7.5k out of pocket, sparky course book after book, module after module and turned out I would never have got a city & guilds from it. Miss sold to me during covid on a premises of starting a new career. 🤷‍♂️ what do you do 🤷‍♂️

Bought a full scope lvl3 electrician pack for £8000. Was half way through my NVQ submission, they blocked my account. Told me that I have exceeded time limit. I offered to pay Astra to finish it. They said that I have to find somewhere else to do it. So I assume it will be a big step back and way more expenses. Will raise a claim against that company. Avoid at any cost.

I Did a Supposid Course. For Gas Studies. Didn't really get the Support. 6 Grand Down the drain. I've gotten nowhere. Thanks... I don't reccomend this Company. They Sub out the work To ERR. no disrespect to them.

I would avoid 247 at all costs completely scam wasted my career and time. After all the time lost wasted 3/4 years I'll never get back of my life. After so many years of trying to get my Gas

I enrolled with 247 Training UK when I was 18 years old, after recently dropping out of college and with very little work or life experience. Looking back now, this was one of the most damaging educational decisions I’ve made, and I genuinely feel that I was not properly protected or advised as a young and vulnerable learner.

The course was sold to me as a viable route into plumbing, with promises of tutor support and progression. What was not properly explained is that this is largely a self-study, theory-heavy distance learning course, which is completely unsuitable for many people entering a practical trade for the first time — especially young learners or those with learning difficulties.

I disclosed some of my learning difficulties at enrolment, yet there was no meaningful suitability assessment. I now understand (years later) that I have ADHD/ADD and dyslexia, which explains why a book-based, unsupported learning model was never appropriate for me. I raised a formal complaint quite recently and Instead of recognising my concerns of unfairness and owning up to mis-selling to a vulnerable person, the company later blamed me for “lack of motivation” when I raised concerns — which I found deeply upsetting and unfair.

A major issue is the structure of the course: you are not allowed to attend practical, in-centre training until you complete multiple theory-based TMAs (Tutor Marked Assignments) independently. For someone who learns practically, this creates a dead end — you cannot progress because you’re denied the very environment you need in order to learn. Plumbing is a hands-on trade, and learning it purely from books with minimal tutor interaction is unrealistic for many people.

Support was extremely limited. Tutor contact often felt rushed, difficult to access, and ineffective. I tried to engage, completed some assignments, and repeatedly struggled completing more, despite asking for help. Eventually, I was locked into paying for a course I could not realistically complete.

I remained paying for years (over £7700) via finance, which placed significant financial strain on me at a very young age. I gained no qualification, no usable skills, and ultimately had to pay again elsewhere to retrain properly. I have recently completed training at Logic4training, through their in-person courses, and though they themselves did not have the best training in my experience, I managed to secure a role as a plumbers mate with a firm, after completing their level 2 plumbing diploma — which clearly shows the issue was the course model, not my work ethic or commitment.

I have since escalated this matter to the Financial Ombudsman, as I believe the course was mis-sold and unsuitable given my age, circumstances, and disclosed learning needs.

My advice to anyone considering this:
• If you are 18–25, please be extremely cautious with private, distance-learning trade courses.
• If you can, choose a government-funded college offering City & Guilds plumbing qualifications.
• Better still, pursue an apprenticeship or a reputable in-person training provider.
• Do not assume sales advisors will explain the full pathway into the industry — many crucial steps (Level 2, NVQs, CSCS/CITB, Gas routes, etc.) are not clearly explained.
• Do your own research and speak to people already in the trade before committing financially.

There are better options out there, and I wish someone had clearly told me this when I was 18. I hope this review helps others avoid the same mistake.

But only after paying £8k.

This is a vehicle to exploit the desperate.
No good will come from this for you.

Please use the ECA experience work route or take a NVQ.

There are no quick fixes, no matter what their trainers promise!

You will spend less for more that way!

I wasted the years I could have easily done a genuine course.

I don't have that time any more.

This company is a scam..My son has been doing the Electrical course for 3 years, payed £8000.
Done all the modules, cannot pass mock exam, got a qualified electrician to do the mock, also failed, he even failed 5 times.
Something not right, No support, No contact, No qualification.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The title isn't an exaggeration. I was young so thought it would be a good idea to train to be an electrician. But my life goals changed so I tried to cancel the course. I was literally just a few months in. And they said there is no way and I need to pay off the entire course. I've been paying £180 every month for over 3 years because they refused to show me mercy and cancel my course for me. Absolutely disgusting company, DO NOT TRAIN WITH THEM...

Apparently I'm by the end of my course but I can't access to my 247 account since some days, that is affecting my studies and preparations for week 9 (electrical).

The most disappointing part is that I've been informed by the tutors in my last 2 weeks (week 6 and week 8) that we are supposed to look for sites and organize the NVQ ourselves.
I clearly asked the agent that enrolled me how it works when it comes to pictures for the NVQ and was told that ERR will organize that as well, they should find sites and take pictures ERR themselves.
(I've got his name and phone number saved that I would share if requested).

The whole course structure and service provided in general doesn't match the money value.

Paid 8500k for electrical course was told by many I wouldn’t get the relevant qualifications promises. I was told at the point of sale there’s no rush I can’t take my time I can no longer continue I have to pay more money to carry on. Long and short is my finance was with SCOTT CONSUMER FINANCE. I wrote to them explaining I refuse to pay anymore money they said I had to as these reviews are just online here say. But since then I haven’t paid a penny more still owing 2500 no contact no debt recovery so they won’t be getting any more from me

Absolutely scam,they charged £7,800 for course paying installments over 4 years,I passed level 2 of plumbing which I could pass it in few months locally for 2 grand,my course is expired still paying money each month , they just kept sending thick books and modules after modules,no chance to get it done,just waste of time and money.

They just want your money, try another i spent an absolute fortune here and they want just short of another 1k to complete saying my course had elapsed.
i was supplying photo evidence for the NVQ which by the way is a joke, your AM2 voucher is only valid in their centre so i paid for mine to be done closer to home but no offer of covering that cost, sad thing is the people at the centres are really good it is just the management side that screws you over, I passed every exam with high end percentages, anyway take my advice please and go elsewhere i gave one star because you have to put a minimum of one

I was told 7k when the course started then I was gonna sign I had to pay 8k for a plumbing course...don't waste your money no help no support, not really sure how these type of companies are allowed to run. This is a SCAM I hope you people end up in jail for scamming.

Like many people I paid £7k for a electricians course. I could not pass the first element despite multiple attempts so never got to the next stage. I am in my late 40s, highly educated and was looking for a change of career that I could manage my own work/life.
Absolute ZERO support, ZERO contact from my so called TUTOR, an absolute con!
4 years on I have now finished paying the finance agreement. 7k down the toilet.

In 2021 I ignorantly fall into a college 247, the lady said she can get me loan to get into the college 247 training put me on a £7000 contract with this people, when I got only 1500 to pay the college said I can’t continue that I won’t catch up, when I had consultation with the lady from college she didn’t say anything about time as she said I will do it at my own time since I’m working…To cut the long story short Guys stay away I repeat stay away from this, they open other companies disguising to help you finance from them they are the same…..

247 Training is absolute rubbish. They provide course books and endless online tests with no back up support. They take weeks to mark each unit. Then I found all the local training centres are closed and have to go to Southampton. We did one week of that and found even the course leader said the training is inadequate. They should have their business training licence taken away. Waste of time and 5 and half K in a loan which I have since found are all connected. I know we signed the loan and it’s long after the cooling off period but this is a warning to any one looking at 247 training.., don’t. Skills training is full of pitfalls so do deep research to find a good one. Try a college… I know it takes longer but you get better support or apprenticeship scheme if you can get on one which is also a big challenge.

Contact The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP) and put your complete in with them. i have done 36 months and now they are telling me to pay £400 to get access for another year of the course. The so I stopped the finance payments and there is still about £1400 left to pay. They missold me from the start telling me I've got all the time I want.

Avoid avoid avoid! Lied to from the beginning of my plumbing course about everything! Materials provided were all out of date and terrible, almost £8000 later I only have my level 2 certificate and will have to pay to do my NVQ and further training elsewhere. Much better courses out there, simply miss sold by this company from the very start. SCAMMERS.

Has anyone managed to get the money back ? For those scared and stuck just don’t pay it and report them to citizen advice.
