I called Venmo / connected through PayPal experience

I called Venmo customer service number
1 (855) 812-4430. They have a wait time. The automated voice message says “you can wait on the phone call for someone or we can give you a call back”. I did the call back option. They called me back from this number +1 (402) 935-7733. This is a PayPal phone number. I talked to someone on the phone and started talking about my business profile which is why I was calling. I wanted to be sure that I chose the right registered business type. They kept talking about the business category and I had to clarify it’s not the category it’s the registered business type. This is impossible to see apparently after you have chosen your business type you can’t see it in your settings or from an associate. The phone call disconnected so I called back. Someone different this time answered, I told them my situation. He basically said ma’am no this is PayPal not Venmo. I said I understand that but I was just talking to someone about my Venmo account and my business profile. How is that possible? He only replied with ma’am please understand this is PayPal not Venmo. As a customer, I am now annoyed because I am not making up the fact that I was talking to this someone from this number. To be honest, I hung up on him because he was not hearing me. Thought maybe I need to talk to someone else. The next person said the same thing. How is it that I talked to someone from this phone number about my Venmo account but they are making me feel like I was making it up? I wanted to talk to a supervisor at this point and you can’t unless you have a account with PayPal. Makes sense I get it but you have recorded phone call history and you would clearly see the phone calls I’ve had with this number and the conversation I had with someone. I call Venmo back and don’t choose the call back option, stay on the line. Now I’m talking to a supervisor through Venmo explaining the mess I’ve been through. Venmo flaw that PayPal will call you back if you choose call back option? Make sure if you disconnect don’t call PayPal number back because they will tell you are crazy for calling them when they aren’t Venmo when Venmo customer line had them call you? So confused, terrible experience, waste of my time. Paypal associates need to know this could happen with Venmo customers and to not argue with a customer that this is PayPal. It would of been so much easier if someone were to tell me “I’m sorry ma’am, Venmo customers can sometimes be directed to PayPal phone number but if you call us back we cannot help you. Please call Venmo customer service number again”

The supervisor/manager from Venmo that I talked to Juan helped me and answered all my questions. Thank god for him! This is why I rated an additional star while my experience before Juan was terrible— Juan finished out my experience on a good note! He was able to help me with my registered business type for my profile and heard where I was coming from with what I experienced. I’ve never had issues with Venmo until I had to call with a question about my business profile. (You cannot see in the app what business type you are after you’ve chosen that or I wouldn’t have had to call at all).

Venmo support is useless

Venmo lies when after I tried to transfer money to it. Their message was "We couldn't add money to your account. Our support team is ready to help."

Their AI chatbot is totally useless. It then connected me to a nominal human, that told me because of security, they can't tell my why my transfers are failing.

Pretty f-ing useless.

Stay Away! Not a real financial institution!

Run away from these online banks they are not meant to be foundational banking institutions and will screw you over. This institution will not protect you as a consumer. This app all share your information publicly (expample: A sent $45 to B). That’s personal and should not be public like a social media post.

They froze my account for a week $1.97. Which I paid back but they said it was still pending. Stupid stupid stupid, and you have forever lost my as a user and I will be sure to advocate for people not to use this app.

I had received a money transfer into…

I had received a money transfer into Venmo and wanted to put into my bank. Website asked me to input my bank, which was odd bc I use Venmo every month, through that bank. It wanted to verify the bank, there were 2 choices. one said it may take up to 2-3 dys to verify, the other choice said instantly. I clicked on instantly, it asked me to verify 2 small deposits it had made into my account. brought up online banking. no new deposits. waited 5 minutes. checked venmo just to be sure, yep, it said it made 2 deposits and all I needed to do was input the $ amts. not there. clicked back, chose instant again, got message it had deposited 2 small amounts-again-but there were no deposits. called my bank, they checked in real-time, no pendings. during this time I had been trying to reach someone at venmo, no luck. so I called venmo again and just kept punching numbers until I got a live person. this rep, Michele, was brainwashed well. I explained wanted to transfer, that website said they'd sent deposits but my bank said there were none. her reply was to tell me that it takes 2-3 days to verify a bank account. I replied, yes I read that on this webpage, however I just told you there are 2 choices and I chose instant, it asked for $ amounts of the 2 small deposits to verify. I understand it can take 2-3 days, and rt next to it you can choose an instant way, thats what I chose. the point is, it says it made 2 deposits, in order to verify, but it didn't. she again states it takes 2-3 days to verify the bank. What? so the choice of instant is just to piss people off, that you don't actually offer instant? That your programmer/webmaster thought he would have some fun? you don't "fun" with someones money. she then says that I deleted my bank and then added it back. wtf? i did not, why would i? and what does it have to do wuth why I called? her reply? you must have hit a wrong button. ....wow. this girl was extremely dense and/or didn't completely understand the English language and clearly contradicted herself several times. I asked to speak to her supervisor. she said, yes, but they would have to call me back. I said I can hold. we don't have supervisors on site. that makes sense, I muttered. no wonder their customer service sucks. When should I expect this call back? 24-48 hours. SMH. Up until now, i've had no problems with the application itself, it has worked without a hitch and provided a service that is very helpful. and up until now I would have given it 5 stars. too bad.

Literally no help support

Wow. That was completely effed up. Called their help line, which tells me to go online to help center or chat with someone who then tells me to go back to phone number that literally leads NO where, I was never allowed to talk to a person. The “help” in the AI chat could cancel my account but not help me in any other way. Just gonna get the run around.

Reported a fraud and we were suspended for reporting it

Reported a company that we made a purchase to for fraud, so venmo suspends our account, not the business committing fraud. Makes sense right, then they never even ended up investigating the company that did it, just kept threatening us instead. These guys are a scam service helping other scammers. Trash company with trash people.

I've had venmo for years

I've had venmo for years! A friend sent me some money today and when I tried to transfer it using an instant transfer to my bank they would not let me. I called and they said I was a Potential Risk!! And they couldn't tell me why I was all of a sudden a Risk! They did say I could do a standard transfer. This is Saturday and it wouldn't hit my bank until Tuesday. I need my money today! I should have been notified about this risk deal!! If I'm that big of a risk why can I do a standard transfer and not an instant transfer??? I think it's called, getting interest from keeping my money!!! This is a lesson I won't forget!!! 🤬

A Terrible Experience

A deeply disappointing experience at a time when reliability mattered most.

I was rushed to the University of Iowa for emergency brain surgery to remove a large tumor I did not know I had. The operation lasted five hours, followed by weeks in ICU and a rehabilitation care facility. I have been unable to return to work until nearly June. During that time, my business effectively collapsed — no one was there to assist customers, process orders, or keep routine obligations current.

A longtime friend unexpectedly created a GoFundMe campaign to help with basic living expenses during this crisis. Venmo was highly recommended to us because of its supposed speed and ease of use. The funds were transferred into Venmo promptly. However, the moment I attempted to transfer the money to my own bank account, Venmo suspended my account.

I was then required to upload a JPG of my driver's license for verification, which I immediately did. Afterward, I received an automated response stating that my documents would be reviewed and that a decision would be made “usually within 7 working days” — effectively 9 actual days — followed by an additional several business days before the funds would even reach my bank.

At a time when friends and supporters were trying in good faith to help someone recovering from emergency brain surgery pay for basic necessities, the process became unexpectedly stressful, slow, and financially frightening.

The worse experience I have

The worse experience I have. I’m trying to open a dispute for transactions I didn’t authorized and the app keep change the pages showing how to use and I never get a chance to do what I wanna do. When I called, nobody answered, the machine said :
You have to call between 8am -6pm. Business hours
I called 8:15am
They keeping take money from my account and the other day I made a order at Dominós I didn’t receive the order I called them they returned my money and Venmo didn’t refunded

So extremely disappointed in Venmo

So extremely disappointed in Venmo. A month ago, I in error deleted my debit card. Then when I went to add it back, it wouldn’t let me. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Venmo support. And they couldn’t tell me why I couldn’t add it back other than saying it may have been flagged as suspicious since I deleted it then wanted to add it back. So it may be?? So you can’t tell why I can’t add it? It’s been over a month and I still can’t add it. I shouldn’t have to get a new debit card just to use Venmo. My debit card works just fine. This also means I can’t use my Venmo card.

Horrible customer service

Venmo has the most unhelpful customer service reps I have ever encountered. They seemingly have no authority or power to help, and the answers you are given are all scripted.

I have dealt with unauthorized charges for the last time, and I’m pulling my money this time and ridding my life of Venmo.

Zero customer service

I have tried, SEVERAL times to get verified over the last couple years. Each time, I am sent a rejection saying they need "clearer" photos of my ID and W-2 I send in. Each time, the files are absolutely clear. Venmo does not have any human to human customer service. They have an AI chatbot, and a phone number that sends you in recorded loops forever and ever until you give up and hang up. I just want to be able to send my venmo funds to other venmo users without having to jump hoops depositing it into a bank account and then paying to other venmo users "with bank account."

Venmo’s customer service is the very worst service in existence. Someone sent me money 3 days ago, it hasn’t shown up and I can’t get in contact with venmo to get anyone to help resolve this issue. This is so frustrating, it’s maddening and this is my first time trying to contact venmo customer service. Their “chatbot” is remedial at best and gives you only very generic answers.
