It’s taken me a little while to write this review as we’ve been throughly enjoying our new home!
I was stuck in a housing association flat with very high rent- therefore unable to get a mutual exchange. Me and my daughter were so miserable there, we had some very bad experiences with a neighbour who had constant police call outs, my daughter was scared and I knew we needed to move. I thought my only option was expensive private rent but I’d always dreamt of having my own house, just didn’t think it would ever be possible due to my not amazing income although working 2 jobs.
I was very fortunate to be gifted a deposit by a relative but wasn’t earning enough to be able to afford to get a mortgage on a house in our area which is fairly expensive (Essex). Then I heard about heylo!! (Thank god!)
Emma was amazing- I couldn’t recommend her enough. Prompt in response, and answered my millions of questions.
I am now living in a beautiful 3 bedroom house which I chose myself. (Other shared ownership houses in my area are so hard to come by and also so expensive!)
And I pay the same price monthly for my beautiful house as I did for my HA tiny flat!
I am so incredibly grateful to Emma, and heylo as a whole.
I also received a lovely hamper on completion which is very thoughtful and kind.

We had been stuck in hugely expensive rented accommodation for many years, unable to qualify for an affordable residential mortgage due to age and occupations and falling just outside the eligibility criteria for traditional shared ownerships schemes. With the looming spectre of retirement, reducing household income and skyrocketing housing costs, we had been desperately searching for a solution to our long-term housing problems for a very long time.

Although fortunate to have a sizeable deposit, we did not have enough money to buy somewhere outright in an area we wanted and needed to live, so we thought our plight hopeless. That was until I happened across a social media post from somebody that just mentioned You Home in passing, which was enough for me to seize upon and do some research.

The qualifying criteria seemed both flexible and realistic, and although initially sceptical, we asked around local estate agents, and they assured us that they knew of, and had positive dealings with, Heylo Housing, the providers of this scheme, so we decided to contact them and see where we got.

What a relief after years of coming up against brick walls at every turn! From the outset, Emma, took the time to listen and completely understand our situation, patiently explained the Heylo scheme, its costs and the process of buying a shared ownership property.

The biggest selling point (in our opinion) with this scheme – we were given the freedom to buy a house on the open market in any area we wanted, not restricted to tiny new-build houses or flats on developments supplied by the Shared Ownership Scheme itself. Once qualified with Your Home, our budget and property criteria were clearly set, we were allowed to go off and find our own home!

It was quite a long slog in the end, mainly due to the usual complications when dealing through solicitors, multiplied as there are necessarily three different sets involved in this process (our own, Heylo Housing’s and the seller of the house), but Matt kept us informed every step of the way, and there was no pressure at all from Heylo to complete until our solicitor was totally satisfied with everything.

So now, we are in! Housing costs reduced and predictable for the next ten years at least, released from the insecurity of renting from private landlords, and with equity in our own home!

This has been a game changer for us, and we genuinely could not recommend Your Home/Heylo Housing highly enough.

From start to finish the Your Home team have been great. The initial estimates were quickly done to give us an idea of our rental forecast.

The only thing that came up was proof of monies. Originally, it was accepted that I had enough of my own money to provide a deposit of 30%, but when it went through, because of 'money laundering' policies, it took quite some time to get all the proof together, statements from 5 years ago when I received some of the money from a remortgage, luckily most things were on old emails and manage to source. Even more frustrating, was I had to go through it all again with the solicitors and even deeper. I appreciate it has to be done these days but a heads up on the amount of detail needed would have been a lot less stressful.

My estate agent told me about the option of shared ownership when I sold my house. It was easy to apply, and purchased a previously loved home on the market, not a new build. A big thank you to Matt and Emma for helping me apply and go through the process. Selling my house was complicated but Emma was supportive, patient and extremely organised throughout the process of buying. Emma kept me positive and we now have a lovely home that I can staircase over time to own a larger share. If you have a fair deposit to put down, then shared ownership is a great way to stay on the housing ladder. Now mortgage free and in a property with low rent and the peace of mind I won’t have to move unless I choose to. Very happy with the service from Heylo and would recommend.

Our experience with Haylo was absolutely brilliant. Our case worker Matthew Ferguson took us through the process seamlessly with a great deal of compassion. (Thank you, Matt!) Without Haylo we never would have been able to buy a house and would have been condemned to live with extornate rent and all the stress and instability that goes with that. Our new house is a 1980s detached house in a quiet estate. We chose it ourselves from our local estate agents list and Haylo were more than willing to come aboard as partners. We now pay much less rent than previously with the added security that we own 25% of the house so it can't be taken away from us. As both my husband and I are self-employed we weren't eligible for a mortgage and having previously owned houses 20 years ago, we weren't eligible for any first time buyers help, so Haylo was a there for us. I would like to thank them so much for their help and making what seemed like an impossible dream come true.

When I started looking into shared ownership I didn’t have a clue about how it worked. I was really worried about how it would work but I was put in touch with Ben Kippen at heylo housing. I have to say that Ben was really helpful and the patience he had with me was absolutely amazing has I’m not very good with the internet but he got us through everything and we are now enjoying our new home. I wholeheartedly recommend Heylo Your Home to anyone interested in the scheme.

I already owned a lovely shared-ownership home with another provider, however a change of circumstance with my family necessitated a move to larger, more suitable accommodation.

I initially was trying to find a home via other shared-ownership providers who had homes for sale, however I found these limited in size, or a ridiculous wait-list was denying me a chance of being successful.

Knowing I could not afford a home meeting my families needs on the open market I looked for alternatives schemes that may be available and am so glad I stumbled across Heylo Your Home. I tentatively did my research as whilst I was familiar with SO, I personally hadnt heard of Heylo Your Home before, so needed to do my due diligence, I am pleased to say when looking into it any fears were rapidly soothed, a particlar positive for myself is the 'Increased Value Entitlement' - this is not typically offered to SO owners, and serves as a real incentive in my opinion and definitely was a factor in my decision to purchase with Your Home.

Deciding to join Heylo Your Home meant I had the freedom to look on the open market and had a wealth or properties then available to consider.

Emma was the Your Home consultant assigned to me and she was fantastic! She kept me informed with clear and consise weekly updates, helped gently pushing other parties when needed and was genuinely so helpful. A real asset to Heylo.

Im a few months into my new home, and if I have a need to move again in the future I have no qualms about purchasing with Heylo Your Home again.

We came across Your Home through a Google search for shared ownership that wasn’t automatically a new build property as we were interested in buying an older property. On contacting Your Home we spoke to an agent Ben Kippin who was extremely helpful, approachable and had a huge amount of patience with all the questions that we fired at him. We later requested Ben to be our agent once we had found a property on the open market for them to convert into a shared ownership for us. The whole process was transparent Ben seriously couldn’t have done anymore than he did for us we cannot praise him highly enough, he was professional, helpful with an abundance of patience. He was always available to us when we had queries or questions. If anyone has any doubts about going Through this process Don’t it will be the best decision you make. Eleven weeks on we are settled into our new home enjoying decorating and gardening and making our home our own and to top it all we unexpectedly received a beautiful hamper from Your Home (Heylo) full of goodies which was a delightful surprise. I am so happy. My experience was as stress free as you could hope for during a move. All my questions were answered during the whole process. Communication about what happens next was very clear. I can not thank the team enough. I am so so happy in my home.

I desperately wanted to get out of renting and onto the property ladder. Having given up hope of buying a house due to the lack of available truly Sharia Compliant finance options to purchase your house in the UK I came across Your Home, a Sharia compliant way to buy your home with Islamic Council approval!

The process from start to finish was very easy and straightforward, Ben was super helpful and knowledgeable, there are no nasty surprises and the best thing is you can choose any home you want as long as it meets some very basic criteria! The Model is explained and you know where you stand in terms of repayments.

We recently used Your Home having been living in a rented property which we had to leave. We were unable to find a mortgage due to being slightly older and were introduced to Your Home by Leaders. Without this scheme we would have had to carry on paying very high rent charges. The scheme allowed us to buy through most estate agents. Our contact, Emma, was very helpful and efficient.

Your Home worked well for my circumstances because I had a lump sum after my divorce, but have a low income so was unable to secure a high enough mortgage for the type of family home I wanted. I do not have a mortgage and I’m able pay an affordable rent (though this goes up wash year, similar to other rental agreements). My home can be sold as normal when/if it comes to sell.

It was also a positive for me that as long as the property I wanted to purchase had a D or above energy rating, I could purchase any home I wanted, not just a new build.

I, and others I’d spoken to, hadn’t heard of Heylo/ Your Home so at first I was a bit sceptical but be assured Your Home is legitimate and trustworthy. You are able to staircase and eventually own 100% of your property if you want to.

Staff at Your Move were always transparent and helpful, but my advice would be to make it perfectly clear in writing to all parties involved (solicitors and estate agents) that you are using a shared ownership scheme and share all relevant contact details to those above and below the chain.
