It took ages for me to get a role
It took ages for me to get a role. Jobs would get taken so fast. I was really annoyed when my account got disabled and I emailed them about it and they responded saying that this had happened due to getting ‘getting two’ strikes. When during the induction they said you had to get ‘3 strikes’ for this to happen. I already had jobs that were booked for me to go to that I was attending over weeks and I attended every shift. I don’t understand why they didn’t explain this before working for a company over the weeks that I now wouldn’t be going to anymore because of them and why they said something different to the induction.
A dreadful experience
A dreadful experience, their 'support' is rude and unsupportive, their app is not fit for purpose. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your time.
This could be a good idea but my…
This could be a good idea but my experience wasn’t great.
I was interested in shifts for Sainsburys as a delivery driver and our local store used the app for recruitment.
I did all the verification for the role and was asked t attend a 4 hour induction at the store.
I was feeling positive and they told us we would definitely get shifts. The training was a bit sketchy but I thought in these times we are in to go with the flow and having driven in a similar role before I felt confident. I had my hi viz I was ready to work.
There weren’t loads of driving shifts on the app but lots for online picking (2am starts). The London office call me to say some driving shifts were coming up so I applied for one and got booked (the client can decline you if they don’t want you and make the job available again) so I figured they wanted me and I was looking forward to doing my bit to feed the nation and make a bit of extra money.
When I arrived half an hour early to make sure I could get ahead and leave on time, they obvisouly weren’t expecting me, no manager around, no route for me, no one interested, I was told I wouldn’t be driving and they got me stacking totes and sweeping the floor. For some reason as I had been really up for driving, done the induction and then got booked I was a bit disappointed but work is work and money is money and I did get paid.
Anyway, move on etc, subsequently I found out from 2 other drivers that got jobs at Iceland that they had had the same experience with syft and between us we got offered jobs at iceland and Waitrose and I also got offered a job at another Sainsburys store but not via syft.
Anyway, the real downside of syft is you can’t get hold of anyone to speak to only via their online support. trying to explain the situation repeatedly and going round in circles, I just gave up in the end. As it was my first shift, I thought maybe there was some more training to be done or I needed to shadow someone for a few hours but I couldn’t get anywhere with syft support.
I would suggest applying directly with Sainsburys. I don’t think this app is a realistic or reliable way of generating income and you need to be totally fixated on your phone as if a shift does come up especially the online picking ones they go straight away – they do this mass recruitment via zoom so its fastest finger first. As I was fortunate to be in work and looking to top up my money, I couldn’t be that focused on looking at my phone constantly.
This is only my experience so maybe you might have a different one, although looking at the other reviews they don’t seem that positive either.
Shocking
Shocking. Don't waste your time with this company. Working for Sainsburys for 3weeks still waiting to be paid. Supposed to be weekly pay.
Next step I'm taking is legal action.
Appalling customer service
Appalling customer service. I booked 5 shifts at my local sainsburys in the morning and I see the company cancelled all of my shifts and relisted it for others to claim. With no info as to why they got cancelled. I then tried to contact support but they were busy, then I tried getting my shifts back by emailing them. They ended up saying that I was removed from that certain sainsburys staff pool due to negative reviews?! What negative reviews , the managers could have addressed this to me but no mention and no one from the company has elaborated what this negative review is. From my side, I did everything that they told me to do and now I've been given "negative feedback". Both syft and sainsburys are a horrible company. Do not try , I highly advise not too.
Syft should disappear from the Hospitality Industry
Bc the workers package conditions stipulated in their app and optional work choice measure in miles distance proximity is inadequate, an uncanning making rule alike many they have got. Because their duty of care on us is null. Nada, caput, zero. Because they were set up in first place to deteriorate the hospitality industry temporal work. Because their only aim is to rich themselves on our cost without any doubt or remorse. Because they consider us as items in a app managed by mathematical algorithm variants.
Would have given zero stars if…
Would have given zero stars if possible.
Interview process was shambolic. Eventually got through and started working shifts. My profile then changed to unverified and I was refused shifts - support was incredibly unhelpful and tried to force me to go through the shambolic interview process again.
If I could give them 0 starts I would
If I could give Syft 0 starts I would. They are the worst employment agency ever from my (and quite a few people who have worked with them) experience. They refused to pay me my full wages for working during the Christmas period. Also refused to pay me overtime hours I worked but they made a mistake and called me (which is when they found out that they did not pay me my overtime). They told me to keep the money since I was owed it, then later took the money from my salary without warning in the midst of a pandemic where there is no furlough. They also under-calculated my pay on top of stealing from my salary. They have their lines closed to their staff especially since Covid started, but keep it open for clients as which tells me they only care about money. At this moment, they are actually ignoring me. I am trying to take legal action against them. I would 10000% recommend not using them to hire staff or to work. If I had known, I would have listened to the people who warned me against them.
bad...
very bad company, they lies people's a lot, don't work for them
Syft owe me money
Syft owe me money. They are impossible to get hold of by phone and although they reply to emails they don't seem to make any effort to resolve the issue
They don’t care about their staff
They don’t care about their staff. Recruiting in bulk knowing there are no jobs - over the furlough period they didn’t communicate with staff transparently and it was dictatorship and censorship type of leadership.
With pre recorded Q&A and not addressing staff queries.
Please note that during a time like these most of us are parents and being expected to take up any job up to 10miles is very hard considering childcare facilities are either closed or taking minimum children for the day.
They just in it for the money not staff retention.
Please care more for the people that make sure your business thrives.
I suggest management channels engage with staff on a sympathetic level and not always get told email support who even block ones email and never reply to queries if very personal.
I would not recommend working with this…
I would not recommend working with this company , in these hard times when everyone is struggling financially they sent most of the people that they are eligible and that they willl get paid the furlough for November on 13th of December. They postponed three times the day when we are going to get the official number for everyone, the amount we will receive and three days before the payday they announced 90% of the people that they are no longer eligible for furlough and that they are not getting any payment. They did this under the pretext that you are not eligible if you had during that month one job offer under a 10 miles radius. This explanations is very dodgy because in this period jobs are available mostly as cleaners and these jobs are 2-3 hours jobs. Also an employer furlough would be canceled if he had a job offer that was available for a few minutes in the syft platform and someone else booked it straight away, so basically at any point in that month if a job was available and I was not logged in and refreshing the app 24 hrs, 7 days a week, I would not be eligible for furlough. With other words they joined the furlough scheme but without the actual intention of paying something, just to look as a good company that helps their employees! Why? Easy! Furlough would cover 80% of the income earned by one employee in November in 2019 and this is a very busy period in hospitality so they would have had to pay a bigger amount of money then a January or February furlough for example. December is coming and I don't even want to think how many people will be eligible for furlough given that December is the busiest month of the 2019 year and they would have to pay more than for November. So I would definitely not recommend working for someone that instead of supporting employees in these hard times ar just giving them false information. It would have been ok to say we are not able to join the furlough scheme or you are not eligible from the begging or we don't know if you guys are eligible but instead they sent day by day emails saying that we just need a little bit more time to figure out the right amount of money that everyone will get paid .
Awful
Having spent two hours with a very poorly organised induction and interview process and having spent 45 minutes of watching very simplistic, basic and meaningless videos about how to lift and how to act at work and how to talk to the colleagues and staff, I was only able to see jobs for an area 3hrs from where I live, as they have nothing closer. With an actual recruitment agency they would know whether or not they can actually provide any work before you go through a long winded process. To be able to apply for other types of jobs requires another presentation, interview and more videos. The interviewer was hardly interested in my experience and was very dismissive about everything. The rate of pay is no better than any other agency, but the fact you cannot get hold of anybody means any issues take a long time to resolve. I get at least 10 emails a day and notifications popping up constantly for shifts I stand no chance of getting to. It equates to endless spam. They mass recruit people, it seems unlikely they could keep that many in work for two or three days a week based on the number of shifts. Not a very good process. Overall a very bad experience. Nice concept and if they hadn't mass recruited and they managed the workload, staff and clients better, it could have been a good thing. #NOTtheFutureOfWork
Do not use!!
Really dodgy app, do not use!! From the start, they ask for personal information e.g. national insurance number, passport, photo of yourself, emergency contact etc. which raised red flags!! I had applied for a Sainsbury's job role in my area, but the app doesn't mention anything about this role or about the scheduled interview! Did not make any sense so I cancelled everything to be safe - seems like a con to get people signed up on this app but doesn't get anyone a job!
Disgusting shambles
Disgusting shambles, applied for Sainsburys delivery job in my home city, Sainsburys do not use this company to recruit, it is just a way of signing people up for their poor agency of casual bar staff; endured the online presentation and one to one interview then realised I had been duped. Have contacted Indeed and Sainsburys to report them and also severely breached GDRP regulations. Avoid like the plague.

DO NOT EXPECT GOOD SUPPORT.
DO NOT EXPECT GOOD SUPPORT.
Do not recommend working for them if you have any other options.
Underpaid twice. Still waiting to be paid correctly almost two months after the shift.
Have open new support tickets every week. Support staff are not helpful and do not listen to what I say. Spoke to several different people.
They have to contact clients (i.e. The companies you are subcontracted to work for) before deciding to do anything which takes more than a month.
Underpaid for reasons that they said would be explained on the App but were not displayed. I showed them screenshots to show the information was not displayed but they still said it was displayed.
They could try and be more human for…
They could try and be more human for starters! Applied for a simple driving job and you app and those that assess it said I did not pass. What a joke! I've had years of driving. Up till covid 19 I was in events and interacting with people daily, delivering goods and service... even 5 star rated. Just goes to show you can't judge a person by an app. The sad part is then one can't apply for another 6 months, so in short your program discriminates against humans and stopping them from working (their punchline was "go away and get experience and knowledge for 6 months then come back")! I hope one day those in charge try to apply for a job using their app and get cancelled out... then they'll know how it feels to be just a number and judged by an algorithm.
Little Care for Employees
Their ability to support employees when issues occur is horrific. Wages sent to wrong sort code (my mistake!) and waited for help to rectify the situation. Syft refused to help and did not follow the regulations behind misdirected payments (even though it would have bounced back immediately as it was an invalid sort code), leaving me £293 unpaid, out of pocket and with no help from Syft.
They keep telling me to contact MY bank when they have made it crystal clear it is down to Syft to recall the payment.
Avoid. Only useful if things are going right, but as soon as there is issues or you require help they are non existent and will leave you to rot.
