I received the clay pot

I received the clay pot, straight away the box looked too small for the size of the pot. It was advertised as 22cm but the company did not specify this included the handle but even taking that into consideration it was still smaller by 2cm. I sent the item back as instructed but they did not say that a reduction in the refund will minus the postage fee. All in all it cost me over £9 for nothing. Will not be using them again.

Regarding the refund, our policy deducts postage costs for returns that aren’t due to product faults, and we aim to make this clear in our return information.

A very pleasant shopping experience

A very pleasant shopping experience.

The price was a lot cheaper than the major online retailing site. The item was packed with care in a very sturdy bomb proof box. DPD shipping was available but to keep the costs down I choose the cheaper Evri option. It all worked out fine (Top tip - once you receive the initial email from Evri - take advantage of the 'View your delivery options' and get it sent to a local drop off point e.g. Post Office) This worked fine for me.

Top marks. Very impressed with the whole shopping experience / service. Thank you.

I’ve been ordering from sous chef for a few years (I have a serious plate addiction that I need to control ha) I also order food items. They are always quick to deliver you are kept well informed and on the last couple of occasions I have had a broken item. They respond so quickly and they actually care that it is resolved to your satisfaction. Broken bowl - no bother - replacement delivered within 15 hours! They are top notch and I buy from them with confidence every time.

You can often judge a company by how they react when things go wrong. I recently ordered from Sous Chef unaware that they used Evri for deliveries. When the order was confirmed and I realised, I explained that Evri never deliver to my home. They make countless excuses but unlike all other courier services and the daily post, they never manage to get orders to us. Sous Chef did their best to monitor and urge Evri to deliver, despite which Evri failed yet again. So Sous Chef immediately dispatched our order using DPD and we received it the next day. Well done Sous Chef for caring, trying, and resolving our delivery problem!

Very slight delay with ordering (courier’s fault) and Gracie organised an expedited delivery as it was for a birthday. Hugely appreciated!

My dream online foodie heaven

My dream online foodie heaven. Souschef have it just right. The quality of the products are exceptional. I have ordered many times, and have yet to be disappointed. The packaging is also great - I have ordered everything from crisps, to glass jars, to pottery, and there hasn't been even a hint of damage to a single item. But most of all - Souschef provide the most exceptional customer service. They are up there with the best.

For any potential customers, my only advice would be to avoid the free Evri shipping and pay for DPD. Its worth it to avoid the curse of Evri! In the meantime I hope Souschef never change - and I recommend their free tutorials and online courses - absolutely invaluable insights in to improving your kitchen prowess!

Typical "Whisky Barrel" scam edited and re-edited

I have been speaking with Lucy from Souschef recently, and found out a lot more about this UK business.

They do not just stock the celebrated designer group D&G [Dolce e Gabanna]. And Souschef does not only stock food, I am told they are big in cooking aids and equipment. Yesterday I spent some unwarranted relaxation exploring Souschef extensive website.

Their minimum spend is not, and that should be corrected, £10 for a slice of cake. They also stock chocolate. This last is important. Some British retailers have joined Tony's Chocolonely industry-led initiative Sustainability Supply Chain, such as Waitrose, claiming to be the first amongst British owned retailers.

M&S do not stock Tony's, Tesco and Germ Aldi do. And several such as M&S and Waitrose own brand every-day chocolate bars obtain their cocoa based products from the Rainforest Alliance. Tony started trying to eradicate modern-day slavery, children working on cocoa farms in Africa and elsewhere.
It all comes down to price of the product.

Unlike the US now, trying to eradicate three centuries of free-trade by Trumpturdtariffs, free trade encourages anti-trust competition.

I noticed on that Souschef stocks Tony's. Mostly milk chocolate, and so does Tesco. Except it is priced £4.50 at the former, and £3.50 at Tesco, same as at Waitrose, and Ocado.

It is clear that antitrust legislation supports an industry led initiative, that across the board provides support for the disadvantaged and the vulnerable. Advanced capitalism fed by governments such as UK and the US are not democracies they are absolutist.

Typical, GB on AI artificial intelligence powered British company illiterate in basic English.
No one answers phones when potential customers call. Robotised recorded message is inaudible.

The consumer/customer, the little person down the street in England is devoid of any rights. Governments of any colour support big business, any business, to grow the economy. OBR figures don't look good on it. Inflation, greedflation, shrinkflation, profiteering, corruption, fraud are the order of the day.

Evri the courier dropped a parcel in my 'Wood store' aka car port earlier today without the use of door bell to announce their trespass on my policies.

Evri does not have a humanised customer service contact phone number either. And accepts parcels for delivery from an anonymous sender. Quite easily a nasty attempt at fraud.

According to the box the parcel originated from souschef.co.uk without noting a sender. Sent anonymously. The box is light, its weight quoted as 0 gr, and it will probably have cost an arm and a leg to pay for, and deliver a cardboard box devoid of content. How splendidly bizzare and posh. You can't buy anything from souschef.co.uk under c£30.00 GBP, except a 100 gr panettone around £10 GBP for a slice. Not an outlet that I could afford to patronise.

The thing is, since there is no sender, it is most likely this is the new Ponzi scheme on the block to rival "whiskey barrel" scam.

Evri won't help you either. No customer service contact number to contact another AI automated digitised robotised enterprise our Chancellor is so keen on to prevent tax evasion.
English artisan meanwhile excels in tax evasion, in my county all the workmen hide before HMRC by disappearing off the face of the earth down badger sets, that is if they are not sailing in the Bahamas.

Cited from a 'thank you' email to my kind in-laws who sent me this early Easter gift from souschef.co.uk:
"The parcel, once we opened the box, turned out very well packed, and enclosed much information about the wonderful contents.

In the parcel to my surprise was the most beautiful cake box I have ever seen. It is very large, oval in shape, metal enamelled in white and blue. In fact quite similar to my treasured old large round cake box, and a somewhat smaller biscuit box. Except this one has a much nicer pattern recalling arts and crafts. Had it not been so generously gifted to me I would not have believed that such boxes are still produced.

When opened it revealed the interior that is gilded to contain, I should say house, a gorgeous scrumptious Colomba Pasquale - Easter Dove-shaped cake. We did cut it, and sampled the delicious confection to everyone’s acclaim. It is fragrant, very light, and packed with almonds, candied citrus peal, and crunchy vanilla sugar pearls.
And very moreish, but we behaved, and saved most of it for Easter. It is beautifully packed and the parcel contains a very superior Dolce & Gabbana carrier bag in the same pattern as the cake box.

I will, off course, have to edit and correct my review - the only item missing and lacking was the sender seen on the outside, that would have been reassuring."

I have ordered a couple of times now from sous chef. The experience has been seamless, the quality of the products great. Customer service is exceptional, exactly what you want and expect from a small business. If we want these small businesses who actually care, to survive, we need to support them.

Absolutely brilliant online store

Absolutely brilliant online store. The quality of products is truly outstanding and the prices are very affordable. I am just a 'novice' cook but Sous Chef allows me to elevate my meals to a higher level by adding depth and flavours that I wouldn't even have thought about before.

Next Day Delivery... Maybe!

I ordered an Oyster Knife on Sous Chef on guaranteed next day delivery for some Oysters I had decided to order. Unfortunately what Sous Chef don't tell you is that their age verification system may request further information. In my case the verification link didn't work, meaning the knife wasn't sent. They answer emails until 5pm but still continue to process "next day delivery" orders after this time. I now have Oysters going to waste, and unfortunately Sous Chef don't seem forthcoming in providing a solution. Personally I wouldn't recommend them for time sensitive orders, which kind of is a problem given the goods they sell.

Absolutely faultless service!

Absolutely faultless service!! Placed my order late on Wednesday evening and it was delivered today! The Murano glasses I ordered are stunning, packaged well and I cannot wait to gift them to my mum for her birthday!

NO Delivery and no response until I phone

I like the range of their products and I have been a big fan of them. However, ......
I ordered 2 x Pnnetone on 23.01.25 expecting to receive latest on 27.01.25. HOWEVER, although I received e-mail from Souschef saying that my order was dispatched, DPD says 'no parcel received from Souschef' as of 28.01.25. I sent e-mails, BUT no reply from Souschef. SO I phoned them. Eventually, they found that my order has not reached to DPD at all.
Souschef said 'Lost in transit'. Since it is NOT the first time that my orders did not arrived as scheduled, I cannot take the word as it is.
Unfortunately, I cannot help feeling that they start loosing 'service'. It is a pity.....

Another company accepting an order

Placed and paid for order online. Items not in stock. I take issue that money is taken before the stock is checked for availability. This is becoming a common practice, especially in the catering supplies sector.

Subsequent to an apologetic email received from the company and a telephone conversation initiated by the company I have amended my review

The practice of taking money before confirming stock availability damages a company's reputation and cannot be ignored.

However, the company has responded well in addressing this and made a genuine effort to repair the customer relationship

Excellent service from Sous chef. I placed a quite a large order and so had free express delivery. I ordered on a Friday evening and it arrived the following day. Well packaged too. My son is delighted with his present!
